Why? Please God, tell me why. Is it blackmail? Does Thomas have photos of Woody and Tanny in a sweaty sixty-nine? I just don't get it.
At this point, he's more valuable than Vernon Gholston. At least we'll have one more guy in the linebacker rotation...
Yeah even if Gholston starts this year, we still need some depth players with experience. It looks way too thin at OLB without Thomas at this point. I believe only Marques Murrell is the only other OLB we have..
Seriously. He was also lighting it up this season before Mangini allegedly "threw out the playbook" and started from scratch.
it saves us little by cutting him this year... but i'd look for him to be gone during the next offseason if our blitz schemes are as creative as we hope then i would look for thomas to be helpful in rotation with gholston unless cleveland or one of the new 3-4 teams wants to throw away a 4th round pick (which there is no way) for him to make his absence worth it...
If we have to live with him for one more season then thats what we got to do. Who knows maybe Rex Ryan can get the most out of him if he is still on the team.
Yeah I still have hope for Bryan Thomas maybe not 12+ sacks each season but I can see him getting 10 sacks this season
You may be right, I don't have a date for when he stopped performing, I just remember him doing very well then disappearing like his name was Gladys.
I Think if anybody steps up they will take BT's spot at OLB but who will it be? The Ghost Gholston maybe ? Jason Trusnik ? Or maybe a guy we draft.
Like said before it cannot hurt to have depth at the LB position especially since we don't know if gholston will be named a starter yet.
Who knows perhaps Rex Ryan thinks that he can get something out of him - and we are way thin on depth here
His services this year are worth more than a 4th round draft choice to us. He will be back next year...whether we'll get '06 Cactus or '02-'05;'07/'08, well the probabilities are bad, but ya never know with a new staff and D. At this point, I see him on the team longer than Ghoston. Although we may renegotiate his 3.2 mil salary in '11 as he SHOULD be someone's backup by then. Until something changes drastically, he's our 2nd best OLB.
