He'd be awesome for the run game, he struggles a bit in pass protection but we're gonna be a run heavy team so it'd be an awesome fit. I think he's an upgrade over Brandon Moore, altho it might take a few games for the chemistry to click
I know it's not all on his watch, but the Steelers o-line gave up the most sacks in the league last year, and their run game was piss poor.
I like him, but like I said earlier, I'll be pissed if we sign him to $7 million or Dockery to $6 million+ per and it limits what we can do in FA.
He is one mean bastard though.... when he was at Utah (college obviously) I saw him play against UNLV and he got ejected for kicking a UNLV player in the face while his helmet was off. I'd say it was an isolated incident but he was ejected the week before for a similar incident. Needless to say he's learned to control his emotions a little better but unless he is cheaper than Moore I don't see why Moore was let go and he was signed. To be honest I think they kind of even each other out.
Yeah, according to NFL.com they were 4th, but they've been among the worst in that category for the past three or so years, even when they had some good players on their line.
I have no answers for the pass protection but Willie Parker and Rashad Mendenhall both being hurt for parts of the season may have had alot to do with the run game although Mewelde Moore was decent.
Speaking of the Steelers, Nate Washington is a FA. With Ward, Holmes and Sweed he probably isn't looking to back there. I don't think he can be a #2 per se, but he is a surefire deep threat with some size.
I would like this signing, not much of a pass blocker but meets the definition of a mauler. Rex wants mean MFers on his team and this guy fits the bill.
