Been watching this kid for 3 years. He was probably the most underrated player in the country because he played for an otherwise atrocious Maryland Terps offense which doesn't pass. He had 3 different quarterbacks in three years. He was always doubled, sometimes tripled in coverage and he still was a game-changer. Raw? Thats laughable. He's the complete package, right now. People just see the combine numbers and automatically throw him in the "workout warrior who is a project" category, that is completely false. The fact is that as great of an athlete he is, he is a great football player.

I was hoping we'd take him in the 2nd, looks like we'll have to take him in the 1st.

i'd personallly like maclin over him but i wouldn't be against it, i think we need a vet to compliment jerricho and hopefully the WR we draft early. without that it'll be 9 in the box vs those guys and clemens

I feel that the end of the first round / beginning of the second would be a great place to pick him - While he isn't physical, he is tall, fast as hell, and has good hands. I really liked the comparison I made before about him, which is Santana Moss plus a few inches. If the Jets traded down to the mid 20s and he was there, I would be all for the pick - But #17 may be too early for him.

1.Maclin( retrurn specialist and just a downright dependable playmaker at age 20 or 21 hes got room to only get better)

2.Nicks (tough, athletic, plays like a TE after the catch, speaking of catch, this kid has the best hands in this draft IMO).

    3. Kenny Britt (most would call this a reach but finally a tall reciever who plays as tough as his size)

Hakeem Nicks is the most NFL ready and is our man at #17. I am officially on the Hakeem Nicks at #17 bandwagon and I'd take him over Maclin, Harvin, Heyward-Bey or Britt. No question for me. His speed is below average, but come on now, Larry Fitzgerald was a mid-high 4.5 guy and Boldin just ran a 4.72 at the combine and look at how they're doing as a tandem.

IMO, Hicks is comparable to Anquan Boldin...

Yes! Get this guy please! While I probably think a corner is the best choice to go with in round one, I would also like to see some excitement in our offense. Him, Leon and Keller would be amazing to watch. We haven't had a guy like this since Keyshawn.

Dude Nicks ran a 4.49 40 at the combine I'd hardly call that below average.

Absolutely agree. There is no way were going to take DHB at #17...there is 1000 threads on DHB, and why. I agree with the post before, he is a Troy Williamson / Peter Warrick / Jabar Gaffney / Stallworth / Ashley Lelie clone. They put up good numbers in college, run fast 40 times, but there not physical and can't transition well into the NFL . Maclin is a freak, Nicks is a beast...and DHB is well, "raw + laughable" . I'll pass on the skinny but kind of tall wide receiver from the terrible Terps offense.

The problem I have with DHB is value, He is probably the best value as a late 1st-early 2nd round pick. If we could potentially trade down/up I would like this. But even the DHB supporters would admit that taking him at 17 is a reach.

It all has to do with how good his hands are. The problem with Troy Williamson is that he can't catch anything, he has some of the worst hands for a WR. I haven't seen a lot of DHB footage so I'm not sure how good his hands are, but I have seen highlights of him making some pretty tough catches.

No. No DHB, he reminds me ALOT of Stallworth. If Nicks or Macklin are on the board and they take Bey it'll just be another mistake to add to the youtube video.

I'd be all in favor of trading down if the offer is there. Unfortunately, a lot of what I'd look for depends on how Clowney performs, which we won't know until later. If he's ready to turn into a legitimate deep threat, I'd much rather take a receiver like Nicks at 17 than trade down for DHB.

I was initially on the DHB bandwagon, but I've cooled a lot on him. If he's there for our second somehow, I wouldn't mind taking a shot on him. However, I'm starting to see the Troy Williamson qualities and that's scaring me off. His route running is atrocious and he wouldn't go over the middle if his life was on the line for it; I really don't like that.

JestFanInPA hit the nail on the head; go for Hakeem Nicks. The guy looks so much like Anquan Boldin on film that it's scary. A WR with a TE mindset who will go over the middle, run over you after the catch, do his job blocking, etc.

I like Nicks and would be thrilled if we picked him but I think Britt plays with same mentality but he's about 2 inches taller and a bit faster. I've watched him play at RU for 3 years and he is an absolute BEAST. He made Mike Teel look like a competent QB at times..

Ah I didn't even realize that. Thanks for pointing that out. Well in that case, he really looks like the real deal. I hope someone doesn't grab him before us!

in one of my earlier draft notes, i noted that i would take DHB, because of his size, but now that we lost coles we need someone to step up in a no. 2 role potentially no.1 and I see Nicks as that player that can translate his play on the professional level.

I don't care who we take between Maclin, Nicks and Britt... trade down t oabout 20-22 and take whoever is there. I think Maclin is the BPA but Britt and Nicks would fit better in our offense...
