i know theres enough threads about this but with the release of coles i think the offseason will look like this

    FA
    Leonhard
    Scott or Lewis

    Draft
Trade 1st rd for Boldin or Draft Maclin/Nicks
    2nd rd CB

these moves seem guaranteed to me now with the release of Coles

    Pretty much.

Or instead of drafting a CB in 2nd round we address it via FA. Bodden, Mcfadden, Bartell are out there.

Not sure about the Boldin for a 1st round pick trade....but the rest looks viable.

I'm impartial on Coles' release...if he would've been retained, I was fine with that. The silver lining in this...is that Clowney/Stuckey will get a shot at more playing time and chances are we'll be taking a WR in the 1st or 2nd round.

I"m impressed with Rex and Tanny's roster moves thus far....can't wait to see what they're gonna do in FA and at the draft.

only reason i see it as a possibility is because if we were to trade for boldin its a good PR move and a literal upgrade over coles at this point. now I also believe if Warner comes back than Boldin might just suck it up and go for another SB run. so that could make this all a moot point. but this tells me theyre either completely sold on Maclin or Nicks ( i pray not Heyward Bey). or theyre going to make some other splash at WR. and that one seems like not only a good move personnell wise but a move to set a better foundation moving forward. maybe its just wishful thinking tanny pulls another unexpected trade leaving jets fans surprised.

as far as coles goes I loved watching him play and wouldnt have midned having him back but at his age and the concussions I can see them wanting to keep the few players from the core mangini/tanny built and then Rex wanting to leave his own stamp on things from here on out.

agreed...i have the same hunch regarding Tanny. Didn't see the Jenkins trade coming last year either...I wonder what he has up his sleeve this year. They must be clearing all this cap space for a reason....the Lewis/Scott pursuit is too obvious though, Tanny must have something cookin' on the backburner.

I think getting Boldin would be stellar......I just think the Cards are gonna want the "farm" and then some...in draft picks. Tanny is shrewd guy, so if the "trade" is there...I'm sure he'd find a way to pull it off without emptying our draft pockets completely.

But anything more than a 3rd round pick for Boldin....is going to cripple our draft....the Jets have other holes to fill....they can't afford to trade away high draft picks, IMO.

I will not be surprised if Bodden goes to New England. That would be a really good move by the Patsies.

TJ Housh is a product of the double coverage Ocho Cinquo sees every Sunday.....I think he's a great #2 WR....not sold on him being a #1.

The Jets need a #1......they'll either squeeze a trade out of Arizona for Boldin, they'll find their guy in the draft or maybe they'll take a different route altogether......it's total speculation at this point.

I like Boldin, but he is going to command too much. And the only receiver I see giving up alot for is his partner in Arizona.

there are other concerns regarding Boldin as well (not just his price tag)

    -his recent injury history
    -he's a malcontent

this is why i think giving up a 2nd or 1st round draft choice for him is too much.....if Ari parts with Boldin for a 3rd or less...then there's no question that you TAKE that trade.

Actually I remember that houshmanzadeh is a possession WR. We have a lot of them as it is and I saw his stats just now and he is 31. Pass

We need a #1 deep threat. An interesting option could be Denvey Henderson but who knows if he could be a #1.

He's got the speed..but he also has a pair of hooks for hands. He drops a lot of balls.

I don't want the Jets to acquire Houshmandzadeh. The money he is looking for is not commensurate with his abilities.
Jabar Gaffney, Nate Washington, and Brandon Jones would all be cheaper and all three are actually worthwhile players. Obviously, none are #1 WOs, but they can all play.

Put a trade together that would send Bryan Thomas and Brad smith to cleveland, for braylon edwards. Its a win win situation, and mangina can have two of his "core" players.

We would also have a number one receiver obviously

As someone who watches plenty of Saints action (so long as their games don't conflict with Jets games), I can tell you that Henderson is an extremely frustrating player. He drops way too many passes and he is soft.
To be successful, he needs to play in a wide open offense. He will not find a much better offense to play in than the one he has been playing in.
I feel Henderson would be all wrong for the Jets.

Well then lol then we have to draft a potential #1 deep threat in the draft.

    Even Boldin isn't really one.

It would take a lot more than the 1.17 pick to trade for Boldin. They would want that AND a quality starter.

This is the route I would much rather go. While many would blow their load over the thought of bringing in Boldin, who IMO is a much better version of J.Co, we still would have to give up alot for him, and he is looking for a killer contract. Housh may also covet that big contract, but it likely wont be as hefty, and we can keep our 1st rounder (and all of our other picks). Housh gives us size and although he is still more of a possession receiver, he would prove to be a valuable compliment to Cotch and a very worthy, if not better replacement to Coles.

Plus, who wouldn't wanna say TJ Whosyurmomma on Sundays?
