So are we still on the hook for his $7 million? The article didn't sound like we were but it never clarified.
Sounds like Coles renounced the guaranteed deal so he could become a FA (and get a bigger, longer deal). So I don't think the Jets owe him a dime.
Right here: If he's a free agent, we owe him nothing. We may be on the hook for the $1 million in bonus though.
http://www.nj.com/jets/index.ssf/2009/02/new_york_jets_release_wide_rec.html Not sure if that's anywhere on the board. But yes, Coles is cool with it...I'm no cap genius, but this is great for us, is it not? Edit: Just saw it on the first page...My bad. But as far as I can tell, this is awesome.
I always liked Coles, I thought he was a pretty good receiver for us and made some big plays. I understand it's a business but I'm going to hate it if he goes to Miami. Dammit.
If he is off the books, then hell yeah! I like LC, but he whinned a bit too much for my liking. But I will miss those great catches, and will not miss some of the "should have caught blind folded" drops.
Good. I was getting really tired of his big mouth and #4 production. Fuck him. I like what this new administration is doing so far.
Well, maybe he'll be reunited with his BFF in Miami. Happy trails, Coles. Thanks for your contributions. I guess I'll finally be able to buy his jersey for cheap!
I totally see this coming... of course it isn't too bad for us. Be nice to have him there one more year, but he's had a couple of tough seasons injury wise and we might as well move on at this point. LV played with a lot of heart for us though, and I respect that.
