This is something that is pure speculation, but I think is worth considering. If the Jets sign Haynesworth to a monster 5-7 year 55+ million deal with a bunch of guarantees, i have to imagine Jenkins will probably want to renegotiate his contract. I don't think the Jets would be too crazy about signing Haynesworth and then having to give Jenkins a raise having a bunch of money tied up at DT. Jenkins played just as well if not better than Haynesworth this past year, and his contract right now is an absolute bargain, if you ask me. His contract is worth less than Tommy Kelley's contract out in Oaklan This aspect to me is something is just another reason why Haynesworth isn't worth it. Thoughts?

Why would you want to piss of Jenkins? As you said, he has a great contract, so why would you want him to renegotiate? Doesn't make sense...

Edit: Never mind, I just realized you're making a point as to why we shouldn't sign Haynesworth. My bad.

I don't think anyone would complain about a 3-4 D-Line that included both Kris Jenkins and Albert Haynesworth... not even Kris Jenkins.

Yeah, i'm not sure where your going with this thread. I'm sure Jenkins would love to have someone to take the heat off of him. I'm also sure he'd like to be part of a team building a championship caliber defense. Especially at his age.

Haynesworth wants to be the highest paod defensive player in the NFL. He isn't even worth mentioning on a Jets message board. He might as well not even exist.

You never compare contracts against any Oakland player contract, even if ur comparing a NTs contract with Oaklands punter...You just don't do it, otherwise we would have renegotiated Gholston's contract by now and offered him another $43 million in guarantee money over the next couple of years.

    A somewhat misleading thread title.

Should be: Signing Haynesworth = Pissing off Jenkins
Not: Sign Haynesworth: Piss off Jenkins

yeah, i screwed up this thread, sorry everybody, i guess my point is that if we bring haynesworth in, then jenkins might want some more money when he compares contracts, and i don't know if the jets would want to give more money to jenkins just after signing haynesworth to a big deal. In that sense it could piss Jenkins off. Hope that clarifies some of it.

I think Haynesworth should be the jets top priority in FA right now he could play 3-4 DE and would be a beast... with the cap space we now have Haynesworth would make our front 7 unstoppable even if we just resign Eric Barton

Haynesworth wants $30 million guaranteed and an average of $12 million per year - none of which fits under the salary cap. He also said he wants to play in the southeast.

Forget it, there's no way Haynesworth will become a Jet.

Well, if we can post the impossible, I want to get Don Maynard out of retirement.

I actually think both players would benefit immensley. Not so sure about Haynesworth durability issues , but KJs are questionable. Toward the back of the season , Jenk was shot to pieces , mainly because everytime he thought he'd earnt a rest Brett F threw a pick ;)
I'd like to see it happen
