If that's the case I think we should seriously consider taking a rb. Thomas Jones is going on 31 with 2 years left on his contract going into this season. Leon is a potential FA after this year(I'm don't think he is a 20 carry a game guy anyway). We are dangerously thin at RB and were very lucky last year. If you are going to pound the ball as we expect them to do, you need another top flight RB. Look at some of the top teams last year that made the playoffs, especially the ones that are a run first team. Pittsburgh, Giants,Titans, Baltimore, Carolina and even Arizona(NOT a run first team, but became dangerous when they ran in the playoffs) Dallas was on their 3rd RB by the end of the year(Choice). McCoy to me would fit the bill in that situation, then CB in the 2nd round.

Then how did he end up picking Gholston last year? He was probably the only GM in football who thought Gholston was the BPA at #6.

  3. You're joking,right?

Nonsense as usual from you Don. I was as vocal as anyone last year about not wanting the Jets to take Gholston but the way the draft played out he was the only guy that made sense without trading down. Also I don't believe for a minute that had the Jets not taken him that he would be playing in NE right now.

there is one more good choice.

    NOT PERCY HARVIN!!!!

Hakeem Nicks and Jeremy Maclin will have better WR careers than Harvin.

I truly don't mean to pick on you, and I don't want this to turn into a back n forth like other threads. But you either have a hard time understanding people in general (in this case the question the OP provided)? Or, this was a weak attempt to hijack someone's thread.

Anyway, if I hope we sign Scott and Leonhard. Doing that will give us great flexibility at #17. Given how I think the draft will unfold, I doubt a QB is available (I choose pass on Josh Freeman). So I'd go CB (Davis) or WR (Harvin). If Sanchez is there tho, all bets are off.

I agree. Maclin is a beast. But I have to assume Seahawks will take Crabtree and the Bengals will take Maclin. Housh is out and he's been quoted as saying that Chad won't be back for the Bengals either. So, I truly expect him to go with the 6th pick. If not there, I can't see Crazy Al in Oakland passing up on him either.

I can't believe those of you not mentioning quarterbacks. Folks, the best two arms on the roster are currently Kellen Clemens and Brett Ratliff.

Wake up! A third running back?! Are you people fucking insane?

edit: I've got no problem with the folks suggesting CB. But going for anything else (unless one of the mega WR's fell, which is highly unlikely) would be crazy.

Maclin. It would be so nice to have a true speed receiver, especially if either Clemens or Ratliff live up to what we saw/see in them, deep arm QB's.

Your "least knowledgable" award is well deserved. EVERYONE thought Gholston was the BPA at 6. Hell, I loathe the man now, but when his name was announced, I jumped and cheered like the rest of Jets nation. That he hasn't been shit doesn't change what people were thinking at that time.

If we get Scott and Leonard, then in the 1st I'd go with Vontae, 2nd round take a shot at somebody like Jarron Gilbert, 3rd I'd go with Andre Brown RB N.C. State. He's big and has good hands. The rest of the draft pick up OL depth. Next year go for that stud receiver.

If we bolster the D with Scott and Leonard before the draft, then I'd be okay with waiting to get a CB until R2 and going Offense first.

Draft gurus: If Nicks has a good (not great, but good) Combine and performs well in the drills, would #17 be too much of a reach for him? Because if we improve the Defense in FA, we can then afford to maybe reach a little bit for a guy who looks like he'll be a stud.

STAFFORD IS THE ONLY QB WHO HAS A CHANCE OF STARTING IN HIS FIRST YEAR. SANCHEZ IS NOT READY AND HAD ONLY 1 SEASON OF COLLEGE BALL AND FREEMAN IS INCONSISTANT. HE ONLY CAME OUT FOR 1 REASON ONLY SINCE NEXT YEAR HE WOULD HAVE TO COMPETE WITH THE BIG 3. I AM NOT A FAN OF HIS. HE HAD O MUCH TALENT AND REALLY DIDN'T PUT UP GREAT NUMBERS AGAINST GOOD TEAMS EXCEPT PENN ST.. DAVIS INTEREST ME MORE AND HAS A GUN AND ACCURATE BUT STILL NOT READY TO START NEXT YEAR. I WANT TO WIN NOW AND OUR BEST SHOT IS TO HAVE A DOMINATE DEFENSE AND A GOOD RUNNING GAME. We NEED TO DRAFT DEFENSE IN THE 1ST ROUND UNLESS WE SIGN 2 BIG FREE AGENTS ON DEFENSE LIKE RAY,BART OR JIM LEONARD. If SO THEN I DRAFT A STUD RECEIVER.

you couldnt predict gholston to be a bust when he was drafted. He was easily thought out to be the bpa for the jets last year.

I'm not a big fan of the corners coming out in this draft.

    I like William Moore, S - Missouri
