Favre, who announced his retirement from the NFL and New York Jets on Feb. 11, will be at the helm of four classic games and five NFL Replay contests from the 2008 campaign, kicking off at 9 a.m. on Saturday. First up in the 21 hours of Favre: his Packers debut against the Cincinnati Bengals on Sept. 20, 1992. That will be followed by Packers-Dallas Cowboys 1995 NFC championship game at noon; the Pack's Super Bowl XXXI triumph over the New England Patriots at 3 p.m.; and his four-TD performance after the death of his father against the Oakland Raiders on Dec. 22, 2003 at 6 p.m. Those classics will be trailed by five games, all Jets victories, during Favre's ?final' season. Enjoy !!!
I'm sick of watching Brett Favre play. I watched that interview with Ed Werder, yesterday, and it just cemented the fact in my head that he was never a JET. He was paid by the JETS, but was never a part of this team. His heart was never in it. He wanted to play another season for one reason, and one reason only, REVENGE. He never got his true wish to go to a team that had the Pack on thier schedual, thus the fire wasn't there. I know i'll get a lot of flack for saying this, but Favre sickens me. I wanted him just as bad as everyone else did when we got him last season. I thought just playing well would satisfy his thirst for revenge, but it wasn't enough. I think he would have been happy going to a team that went 1-15 last season, if that 1 win was against the Packers.
That Packers-Raiders game was hardly a classic. Sure, Favre played well in it, but the game sucked bad.
Id love it if he pulled a fast one like he does every year and came out of retirement to try and land where he origally wanted to go. Then they can have another remembering Brett segment next year.
That game was Favre's defining moment if you ask me....... Anyone who has a great relationship with their father/family has to get fired up over that game.
Awesome!!! Enjoy. And after that please move on and let us move on. Favre represents one of the biggest collapses in our history. We don't feel the same way about him as you do. Please, either keep the conversation Jets focused (non-Favre) or leave. Thanks.
Didn't a first year starter for the patriots do the exact same thing against the exact same team in the exact same circumstances this season? Does that make him as legendary as brett favre?
His dad died middle of the week. Brett's dad died the day before the game. Plus any smart football fan (or atleast people from wisconsin) recognize brett would have never played football had it not been for his dad... It was a legendary game for a legend. I wish I could stay home today and watch but gotta work. Next to the 41-0 shutout against the Colts that was the best game I've ever seen. The throws were just placed 100% perfectly into the hands of each Packer. The whole team stepped up for Brett. It was a perfect game. (unless you're raiderjoe) I can't believe how many people here are so heartless. It's a shame some of you are jets fans.
Your joking right? Losing your father is serious business for longer then a "few days". The only difference is favre did it on MNF and the game was so boring that the storyline got a lot of attention. What favre did was no "greater" then what cassel did.
Well yeah obviously it's bigger than a few days. Also I understand what you're saying with the MNF thing but still it was a brilliant game. Does anybody know what impact Matt's dad had on his life? Probably only a few Patriot fans. I guess you don't understand cuz you never grew up watching Brett Favre like lots of us Wisconsinites. We grew to love him thru good and bad. It was an emotional thing for the whole state. edit: Also, Matt played well in that game but not nearly as well as Brett did in his game.
I rank Super Bowl 31 as his defining moment, but that is open to debate. Favre's performance in that GB-OAK game was great, but it does not change the fact that the game was a one-sided affair.
