I hadn't heard much about Bryant, so I wasn't aware he was a Free Agent. What do you think about the Jets grabbing him instead of a Maclin/Britt/DHB, so we can go QB/DB/LB instead? What type of contract is he expected to get?
how old is he now? im not sure he had a solid last half of the season so he might turn out to get a tasty contract. if he's cheap i would definetly consider it.
Why does everyone wanna draft a qb? there arent any good qbs available where we are picking sanchez is matt leinart 2.0
How exactly is he Matt Leinart 2.0? Is it because he went to USC? Give me reasons not to like Mark Sanchez.
I'd love Antonio Bryant. The guy is finally starting to emerge. He's not old at all. He won't be terribly expensive because he's a risk. I don't think there's a better FA option, and that includes Houshmandzadeh.
His arm isn't that good, he doesn't have significant starting experience, he was surrounded by talent at USC and didn't do amazingly well for himself. He flubbed big time in the middle of the season, so he's inconsistent, too. John David Booty was rightfully allowed to drop in the draft last year, and Sanchez should be allowed to as well. To me, Sanchez looks like a second rounder. Taking him at #17 overall would be ridiculously poor value, no matter how great the need (which it isn't as terrible as people make it out to be). Now I'm no GM, but I wouldn't take Sanchez for the Jets unless he dropped to the beginning of the third round.
Sanchez's arm is very good, you're just comparing it to Stafford who has a Cutler like-arm. The only real knock on Sanchez is his starting experience, and that doesn't take away from his physical tools or potential. To me, Sanchez is an all-around better QB than Stafford. He has better footwork, is more mobile in the pocket, better intangibles, and is more consistent. I think it's a misconception that Sanchez had amazing talent around him at USC. You could say his best receiving option was Patrick Turner, and he's not even going to be a 1st day pick. USC has tall WR, but none of them are Crabtree/Benn/Bryant/etc.
IMO, There is no way we drft a QB in the first round, or even in this draft. We have more immediate needs, and a DB or DE seems the most obvious.
Bryant is hit or miss it seems. Besides, guys like Clowney and Stuckey need to get their chance. I would like to see both get more time on the field.
I really don't think we will or should address DE in this draft. I don't like Tyson Jackson, and unless Brian Orapko or Everett Brown magically falls, we shouldn't go DE in the first.
I'd rather give Stucky the 3rd WR slot. Why spend all of this cash on Bryant? I mean, it would be nice to have another good WR, but, who would be the odd man out? Coles? Cotchery? Bad idea if you ask me. Spend it on that D. Defense wins championships.
I thought he was a hybrid type player? Regardless, looks like the only DE we'd look at would be Tyson Jackson, and that would be bad. I'm starting to like Kenny Britt more and more in the 1st.
this is likely to be the last contract Bryant gets...and his biggest I think the Bucs are going to be the most willing to pay bryant...and i believe they have plenty of room to even consider franchising him If we get a wr...I want it to be a rookie ...unless of course coles reworks his contract to make it reasonable to cut or trade him
Matthew Hatchett OMG! what ever happpened to that guy? Wasn't that 8 years ago? I remember him being picked up by the Jets and I didn't remember if he was any good or not (obviously not), but I never saw him play a down, what gives?
This is so unnecessarily sarcastic. I would see what kind of contract he is looking for but I'm guessing its going to be much too high based on what other receivers have been getting and the year he had.
STAY AWAY!!! The guy was a street FA in 2007 before Tampa took a chance. The guy is nothing but trouble just look at the number of teams he has been on. The risk is way to high with this one.
