This was discussed on Mike and Mike this morning. Greeny was given a list of all of the potential FA QB's that the Jets could bring in to replace Favre, and he despised 90% of the options, like Rex Grossman, Kyle Boller and the like, but then Golic brought up Chris Simms, and Leftwhich, and Greeny figured those were the top options. Now Leftwhich as he said has the most potential for success, but he has the most potential suitors, and it would be more difficult to get him to come to NY.

Simms imo, was working out as a great QB in Tampa until his spleen exploded on a great hustle play diving for a touchdown. Then after his injury gruden kicked him to the curb, and he hasnt been given another chance. The Titans seem to really like him, but there top priority is Collins, and they have Vince Young, so he clearly isnt going anywhere, so its hard to imagine Simms will want to hang out as a #3 when he has a chance at a QB competition where he could start, or worst case at least be a #2 QB somewhere in the league.

    he was horrible in Tampa.

When his ‘spleen exploded’ he was around 1 – 7 and the previous year he was three lucky bullshit hail mary’s away from being 2 – 8. Remember he took over a 5 – 1 team from Grease in his ‘good’ year.

I think Jeff Garcia would be better for the Jets, short term.

I like the idea of Chris Simms just because of who his father is, and maybe that has worn off on him. I wouldn't mind the season to begin with Simms, Ratliff and a new #1 draft pick :)

We need a vet, but i'm convinced we have our QB of the future already on our roster. Brett Ratliff. I don't want to hear about how he played against 2nd teamers, and all the arguments out there. The guy has all the intangables you look for in a QB. Size, pocket presence, arm strength, poise in the pocket, etc.
It boggles my mind that all the people who put Ratliff down for succeeding against 2nd, and 3rd stringers, are the ones calling for us to draft Favre's successor from the collegient ranks. Do those QBs play against NFL caliber players? How many college players actually go on to NFL careers?
I think most subscribe to the "grass is greener on the other side of the fence", theory. We always think the best guy is the guy thats not even on our roster. I don't think we need to look for a FA to be our next signal caller. What i think we need in FA is a veteran for insurance, and to let Ratliff beat out Clemens in TC.

I have a voo-doo doll of his father and stab it every time he broadcasts a Jets Game. His son scares me. Will he loose a kidney in the most important game as a jet? Will he curse us for the next 100 years? A No!

No, no and no. Chris is a good kid but his playing days are over. Way too fragile after some very serious injuries.

We don't need another QB who needs his Jazzy lubed up before every game. The same is true for those talking about Warner. If we wanted to go that route we would be better off with Favre.

Bring him in and give him a shot. What does it hurt? It's not like people were clamoring about this guy recently. Could get him for ainimal amout of money. Let him fight it out with Clemens, Ratliff.

    Chris Simms over Leftwich?

No way. I don't care who his daddy is, he won't ever be as good as his old man.
