Rex has already been very clear how aggressive he's going to be, and I really hope Clowney is a big part of this equation. He might not have the size but he sure as hell has the speed and the hands. I want to see this guy break the fuck out next year.

He and Stuckey definitely could/should be bigger contributors next season due to their speed. And both are around 6-0 too, which is solid. Adding another playmaking WR somewhere would be nice, but it also wouldn't be the worst thing in the world to have these two guys as numbers 3 and 4 next year.

I think Stuckey and Clowney will do nicely if we can get a QB.

Brad Smith is probably going to be odd man out next year... he was a "mangini" guy.

I have to agree, Smith's time has come and gone if it means keeping Clowney off the field. Wright's value on ST's solidifies his spot, so it's Smith or Clowney. I like Brad Smith, he's a tough guy who played his heart out. Bottom line, Clowney brings more to the offense than Smith does at this point. I think Smith has reached his ceiling, and it isn't very high, while Clowney could still turn out to be something special.

I think we will see that Smith was HELD back by Mangini. He tried too hard to trick people with Smith's athleticism - only giving him gimmick plays - I think we'll see (hopefully) Rex allow his nautral athelticism give him the edge in everyday situations, i.e.: a slant, a fade, etc.

We constantly talk about how Coles and Cotchery are good receivers but lack the great speed or burst and Clowney is a guy who has that. Give em a chance this season, hopefully he can stay healthy.

He's not a slot guy. We have a prototypical slot guy in Stuckey. Clowney needs to be on the outside.

Remember what our special teams coverage looked like when he missed a game this year?

I love Stuckey. All the guy did was make big catches given limited opportunities.

Brad Smith and Wallace Wright our possibly the best two special teams players we have. I don't see any way that Westoff let's either of these guys go.

The more I think about it, the less I think we need to draft or sign a WR this year.

id like to think so, cause our biggest needs are on defense, but if for some miraculous reason say someone like Maclin fell to 17 (i know doesnt sound probable), id say we jump on it. thats just because i think Maclin is gonna be a force in the NFL. hes quite a story too.

but yeah barring that scenario, def all the way unless we get value on a QB/OL were one injury away from reverting back to a shitty OL IMO. or god forbid two.

ps. yes david clowney needs to be given more oppertunities. in a NFL regular season game.

The question I have is where do we have a roster spot for another wr? Cotchery, Coles, Smith and Wright will be certainly be back. I'm pretty sure the front office views Stuckey as the slot reciever going forward. Clowney is a player that I doubt they want to give up. So that's 6 wr's. Where exactly are putting another one?

mr smith or mr wright can be shown the door. if im a GM of a pro team i have no problem telling either one goodbye so Jeremy Maclin can play for me.

id say wright because smith is just as good on special teams and its pretty much a push at being a WR. plus for some reason 9 out of 10 times we do the predictable reverses and options with smith, he gets a 1st down.

Agreed. If it wasn't for Wright than Smith would have been our special teams ace.

In fact, I would think that:

    1. If Rex can find a good OC, Jets can run 4 WR/5 WR sets effectively.

    2. I don't think I want to see Coles split out these days - Coles fits better in the slot *or so I would think.* So that means Jets have 2 slot guys - you can't complain about having a quality slot receivers anyway. It's an integral part of 4 WR set.

    3. Clowney and Cotchery split out wide - I think I'd like that. Cotchery would then play what Muhsin Muhammad played in Panthers and in Chicago while Clowney can become the deep threat.

    4. Also, if Jets need a physical specimen with height, they have Marcus Henry (6'4") waiting. I want to see what that kid has too - he seemed to have a very good hand, and his motion looked rather fluid. He does lack top-notch speed, so that's his only caveat - but then, Marques Colston wasn't exactly known for his top-notch speed either, but is making plays all over the field, so who knows?

I think people get too caught up in preseason at times. I like Clowney, I like Ratliff but I haven't seen enough of the two of them. They had some great preseason games but we need to see more. back in 1994 we had a guy named Stevie Anderson who lit it up during preseason and everyone was incredibly high on him then he wound up w/ 9 recs in 10 games. he had more than that in preseason.
