Rotoworld has a mock draft that has us taking Sanchez of USC so we might not go D

I think the Jets should cut everyone and just start over from scratch.

I have checked a lot of mock drafts and seen them select QB, HB, WR, DE, LB, CB, and S. There's no way to tell what the Jets will do at this point.

It's a difficult thing to pick up on, and I'm not saying there's a definite right/wrong response. I'm guess I'm asking this based on your (fans') perception of the player. There have been guys who have played with more intensity and aggressiveness despite the passive attitude and scheme of Mangini. Barton is one who comes to mind. He hits like a truck and lets the players and fans know when he does. To me, that's the type of attitude in a player Rex wants.

We already got rid of our D's most passive guys... Mangini and Sutton.

The T/D against Buffalo was the first play he has made since he signed his new contract. He took the money and ran. Period.

Without a doubt now that it's Ryan & Pettine...we're gonna draft the USC LB (I better learn his name) if he's still on the Board. You can't be any more physical & aggressive than him. The guys the total package at the LB position

You must not have been watching this season... Ellis had a pretty good year. His play tanked towards the end along with the rest of the D.

That's the type of player that want. If he was already on the team, he would stay for his attitude and aggression alone, whether or not he has the football skills to consistently contribute. Having said that, not sure if they'll draft him, but you're right, that is their type of player.

It's like Rex said, "if he's got it in him, we're gonna get it out".

Based on the info at nyjetscap, com, we'd be $15,503,735 over the cap if we cut everyone. And that's BEFORE replacing them with ganggreen.com posters for the league minimum.

Not that he's necessarily passive, but David Barrett has to go because his performance is just poor.

This guy has been a huge liability in coverage for as long as he's been with the team.

Are any of the Steelers CB's available via FA? They have lots of quality depth in their secondary.

this defense was 2nd to the steelers in sacks at weeks 12... then Mangini did the whole 3-8 defense and that went away.... With Ryan, he may be able to keep them as a top 5 pressure team, but with a better secondary we'd see more turnovers, even though the Jets were tied for 5th in the NFL this season in that category... this team doesn't suck as much on defense as we think. It just needs more pressure on QBs, and cover TEs, and to not give up yards because it runs the clock down.

    Fuckin Sutton. Goddamn pussy.

The right coaches can make this front 7 work, but there are a few upgrades that can be made. Cactus' spot, ILB upgrade (Scott) and a DB, either SS or CB. Lowery may be able to do better with more pressure on the QB so that they make mistakes and he makes plays. But I'd like to see another CB to help.

Like our new HC said, this team has talent. Small upgrades need to happen, not huge roster changes because of the new regime.

They are also depth players to cut that have big cap #'s like Barrett. They will free up the space to get one or two FAs and then help in the draft. Thats the real way to build a team.

Trust Ryan and Tanny to do it right.

Pretty much agree with everything here. I especially share your loathing for F*&^*& Sutton!
