As a staement of intent and what Rex Ryan's vision of a team built to win means his statements thus far have been powerful and seeking to get everyone on board. I felt shivers of excitment watching the presser and laughed hard and gulped and thought yeah this is about overpowering other teams. He displayed a strong confidence and must believe he can back it up. A commited and bluntly direct attitude attitude this will hopefully set the tone for the Jets and work to forge our new identity.
I got the feeling for the first time that more than being thrilled he has made it to HC of brand X NFL franchise that he is excited to be HC NYJ.
Ya know, this may be the first time I've seen a coach OR player choose the Jets because they are the Jets and not just for the money or a promotion. Sooooooo cool.
I wouldn?t go as far as to say that! I hate to beat a dead horse, we did suffer from poor or uninspired defensive play, but we were mainly effected by the Quarter back position and Farves errant throw and seemingly out of sync play. No professional athlete throws in the towel and I can attest from my own playing days. (Not professional)
Rex Ryan is the Anti Bill Bellicheck who we fondly remeber. I felt like that stench was finally removed from the podium at Jets central.
They may not throw in the towel but they go through the motions when they don't believe in what they are doing and they realize the game is over.
Not only were they average, but if you look at Rhoads, and Harris, for example, they took steps backwards. Maybe i'm wrong, but i don't see Mangini as a great player developer. I mean, he's the one who kept Sutton around 1 year too long. You think Sutton was coaching up these players? I don't. Just from that stand point, we are a better team, already.
next year will be a tough year, it will be a much harder schedule i can almost guarantee that. we had a tremendously weak schedule this year. we have a new hc who is instituting his way. we will have a new dc and we dont even know about our oc yet. but i am definitely looking forward to the progress i think this team will make. i think they will progress year over year for the next few years, as hard as that is to do in todays nfl i think we have a winner now, and yes he does seem like he WANTS to be the jets hc. and that is a beautiful thing. its also nice that he can talk unlike mangini but is not completely full of shit like herm. i am really looking forward to seeing what he can do and am behind him 100 percent. i was very impressed with the interview he had with mike francesa yesterday and he touched on some very importatnt things to me.
winston, you hit the nail with a sledgehammer with that comment. i saw the sb3 team and also have the image of buddy trying to deck gilbride. in a private e-mail earlier, i suggested to someone who has access to woody that he check out rex ryan. for once, he did the right thing and got over that patriots-south fixation. i hope buddy comes in to help out, even with draft evaluations. it's long past time to get aggressive. when i saw the jets turtle-up on defense last year, i wanted to fire the genius after the denver game.
nope. negative. your basing your merely on a schedule?! your missing all of the other aspects that figured into that 2006 success and 2007 failure. Kendall being traded. Derrick Blaylock, Cedric Houston and Leon Washington was our backfield. Andre Dyson. We had Erik Coleman, who isnt an incredible safety, but ever since he left to Atlanta our SS spot has been exploited. Pennington hurt. Again. Justin McCareins. Awful. The current Jets roster is the best roster yet since Curtis Martin was running the rock, and it hasn't even been finalized yet, and the draft hasn't even taken place. And we have in my opinion, arguably the best coach in the history of the New York Jets, in Rex Ryan. I call it like I see it. Herm was all talk. Eric Mangini was soft. Pete Carroll was a boosters baby... The Jets have been plagued with awful draft choices, and awful head coaches. I believe this is the year that the saying "Same Old Jets" and "JV Team" dies.
Granted , but the Jets were firmly in that game until Farve threw the pick on the drive to tie that game up. Bad quarter back play did us in , not a team quiting or going through the motions. I hear you about going through the motions when a game is out of reach , but at that point we could have still won the thing.
Winnie came to mind earlier today. Interesting thread from the day after Rexy was hired. I have to say, that list up there ^ was pretty well dead-on.
Winston's logic and writing ability is missed. This board needs him more now with expectations so high.
Winston was a tool. For the life of me I can't figure out how he became "the most respected". Apparently I drove him away after calling Hornet's house.
