U all caught Woodys remark that he was more interested in building a stadium & new facility then fielding a winning team?
Well, if he said that, his actions surely didn't match his words. He went out and paid big bucks for great talent, and we did have seven pro-bowl selections this season.
WFAN has replayed it many times already. If U do not believe it tune them in & U will hear it with ur own ears
I believe you. I'm just saying, this past season we focused entirely on winning, so the words didn't match his actions.
•Colleague Filip Bondy asked a great question to owner Woody Johnson: How could one company hire such entirely different people for the same position (i.e. Mangini and Ryan)? Woody smiled, cracking, "Maybe it's a mental defect." But then he said something pretty interesting. "We've been preoccupied with building the stadium and this (facility), and now we're really focused on the most important aspect, and that's the team," he said. That's probably not what fans want to hear, at least not the ones that made financial and emotional investments in the team over the past few seasons. Woody is a jack-ss .
He couldn't have said that. He couldn't possibly be that dumb. Could he? I'd have to hear that with my own ears.
Woody is a fantastic owner. He brings in the best players, he spent tons trying to bring the Jets to Manhattan where they belong, he has the guts to take chances on up and coming coaches, and he's a Republican... hee hee. I don't think there's a better owner in football.
Woody is going to be on WFAN "3:00 or later" where he will explain himself. I won't have an opportunity to listen and, frankly, I'm not sure I would want to hear the rationalizing bullshit.
It's nice to know that the PRODUCT was not the primary focus of owner until almost a decade into his ownership...
You're an idiot. The original Jets faithful wanted the team in Queens and Woody stabbed them in the back with his joke of a suggestion for a Queens stadium that only turned out to be leverage for the WSS. Woody cared more about lining his pockets than actually bringing the team back to NY. There's a reason he gets booed every time he speaks at the stadium.
Lining his pockets? He offered to pay for half the cost of the stadium out of those same pockets! Anyway, the original faithful can't even get to the games. No offense, but they're either dead or need their walkers to get to the refrigerator
