When you have an arm that can fit the ball into any window and the vision to almost always find the best option, you don't need speed to be successful. Would Manning put up the same numbers he does on the Colts if he was with this Jets team? Of course not. But he would still represent an enormous step forward for us. Our greatest position of need is QB, QB is the most important position on the field, Manning is the best QB in the league (and there's no reason to assume that this fact will change within the next few years.) Simple as that.
I love how this thread is about who you would take personally and now there are arguments about who to take... there is no right or wrong, just opinion. There is no clear cut #1 answer. Let's all take a deep breath and not derail the thread. Its which ONE player YOU would take from a team, not the BEST player to take in the NFL.
I don't wanna be the best team in the league this year, I want to be the best team in the league every year. That is more likely to happen with a young guy than an old one.
That argument works for Matt Cassel but doesn't work for Peyton. Peyton made his WRs - not vice versa.
I can't believe the love for WRs for this question. When the Steelers win the SB, that will be another in a long line of teams that will have won the SB WITHOUT a top WR. The pick has to be a stud pass rusher - Ware, Harrison, or Williams. Pressure on the QB wins games.
We do need a top notch pass rusher, no question. But wouldn't you consider Hines Ward on of the better WR's? I would take him in a heart beat.
