I was rooting for them going into the playoffs but we need to get this coaching search over with already so go Steelers. It's just business, ya know?
No, I have an irrational dislike for the Steelers and I really don't want to see them in the Super Bowl again.
We just interviewed Spags for the second time after the report came out that Ryan was in the lead so....
I'm rooting for the Steelers to win 7-6 with the Steelers getting their 7 on a kick return and the Ravens getting their 6 on three safeties.
Not that I'm opposed to the Jets hiring Ryan (I'm not) . . . BUT I'm not blindly in love with Rex Ryan like almost everyone else on this board. (It's probably related to my feelings about the Mangini firing - something I've posted about many times already). Overall, I'm a little confused as to why Ryan is so highly coveted on this board. The last two Baltimore defensive coordinators who worked under Brian Billick to become head coaches have been far from impressive (Marvin Lewis, Mike Nolan). I'm not saying that I don't think the guy will be a good coach. I'm just saying that when it comes to hiring coordinators with no prior head coaching experience, none of us have any decent, logically constructed, mechanism for determining which coaches will be busts and which coaches will win superbowls. How many superbowl winning coordinators have been projected to be big-time NFL head coaches and have then proceeded to fall flat on their faces? I mean, seriously . . . think about it for a minute. If you are a serious NFL fan, you shoud be able to think of names, continuously, for quite a while. Thus, I just don't get why so many people on this board are acting like the Jets are doomed if they don't land Rex Ryan. It just seems like an incredibly reactionary and baseless mass hytseria proliferated among frustrated fans. Now, the reason I happen to be rooting for Baltimore this weekend is because I just don't like the Steelers all that much. It's really as simple as that. I've watched a ton of Pittsburgh games this year and my general feeling on them is that they are a bit overhyped and are lucky that they don't have to play in Tennessee this weekend. (I also think that they were lucky to sweep Baltimore during the season and would like to see the Ravens get some pay back - Btw, 6 points is WAY too much in this game. Take the Ravens and the points)
Actually, we interviewed Spags EARLIER in the week (like monday or tuesday). The story that we did so, happened to break yesterday.
not after learning gruden was fired...i hope balt wins...it will give the jets a little time to take a look at gruden and weigh the options instead of jumping to a decision in fear of losing ryan... i reallllly hope balt wins
Im not rooting against Baltimore because I dont like the Steelers and I have been rooting for the Ravens since the playoffs started. But I would like to see the Jets HC search get wrapped up. Still though im not going to root against the Ravens.
I am really surprised by the poll. I would have thought it would have been more yes votes, for own selfish reasons.
1. I live in Pittsburgh so F*ck the Steelers 2. The right guy is the right guy out there, regardless of whether the Jets can hire him this weekend or next weekend or in a month from now so the only way time should be a factor is to make Ryan look better. 3. And I can't stress this enough, F*CK THE STEELERS!!!
