I wonder what will happen to those values with the stock market now hovering around 8,000 & many billionaires attempting to sell there mega yachts etc
What's amazing is that the Detroit Lions are so high on the list. The Silverdome must sit on some extremely valuable real estate.
Right now the fans are already on the sidelines & the corporations are not buying either & that goes for both teams
That's pretty sweet actually. Absolutely zero success in the past 40 years and they're still #9 in the world.
Its only sweet if your Woody. For the rest of us it kinda sucks that there is no correlation between success and value.
Thinking about the Jets as "Giants lite" and one of these second class teams like the Clippers is funny. When my brother and I decided to choose an English Premier League soccer team to support, we settled on Machester City for the same reason. Everyone has heard of Manchester United and they're world-famous. So, we chose their version of the Jets and said we would be Manchester City fans. We even travelled to Manchester last year to watch them play. Just out of curiosity - could some of our friends on TGG from the UK let me know if Manchester City is thought of in England like the Jets are thought of here?
That used to be the case before some multi-billionaire Arab investors bought City and made it the richest football club in the world. They are just starting to buy up some of the biggest names in the sport (no salary cap, so you can buy whoever you want) and may soon be a contender. Still, the history of Manchester United is remarkable. The team's fans are tarnished with the same image as Pats fans in the NFL. They are considered bandwagon jumpers and glory seekers. City fans are considered cheerful pessimists and like to think of themselves as "real fans", just like Jets fans. It will all change if trophies start to flow in, then City fans will be considered the glory-seekers. The same dynamic plays out in many English cities. Liverpool FC are huge, Everton (also playing in Liverpool) are the poor relations (although they do well with much less money). In London it was always Arsenal who were the big boys and Chelsea the losers, until a Russian multi-billionaire bought Chelsea and turned them around. It's always fascinating to see how a team's fans take on a certain persona. They all think they are the best, of course!
That's funny, because when I lived in Mexico, I supported Cruz Azul, the "other" team from Mexico City. Los Aguilas de America are like the Yankees down there and every village celebrates when they win, but I liked Cruz Azul's colors better. Cruz Azul Aguilas Other fun team, the Chivas (goats):
