x2. I'd be more than happy to see: HC: Rex Ryan DC: Marvin Lewis OC: Jeff Jagodzinski Ass't HC: Mike Westhoff.
Agreed across the board. I wouldn't mind retaining Schott and Callahan in their current positions either. Most important to me, Ryan as HC and Westhoff as STC and i love the Asst Head Coach promotion.
I think Westhoff would be great as the Ass't Head Coach to a guy like Ryan, who doesn't have the experience, in that he's not threatening him for the job (Westhoff, in all likelihood, will never be an NFL head coach), but he's been with the organization forever, his players love him, and I think he'd add some gravitas to Ryan.
Are you on crack? He's been a special team coach for his entire life. Has no coordinator experience, let alone HC exp. If you're a first timer HC, you'll prefer an assistant who has some experience.
I thought the same thing when we kept him as Asst. HC for Mangini, and before that with Herm. So far, he's 0-2 in that dept.
I agree, I really want them to make Ryan the next HC of this team and finally have an attacking defense. But anyway, has anyone heard anything about who Ryan would be most likely to make his D coordinator? I read one article that said the Ravens linebacker coach will most likely go with Ryan wherever he ends up.
You know what? Actually, I want Brian Schottenheimer back in the coaching staff. I want him back as the QB coach. He did contribute to the growth of Drew Brees and Phillip Rivers; with this team needing a franchise QB, Brian may well be the right man to raise one up.
Marvin Lewis isn't available. And what makes anyone think Jagodzinski will be a good OC? His resume doesn't shout offensive innovator. He was OC for a year in Green Bay and Favre was awful. Nothing else stands out. I do not count his college work as an indicator of doing well at the pro level.
I was hoping that Rex Ryan would bring his bro Rob Ryan as DC and Asst, HC but looks like he is going to Cleveland with Mangini
