He's an interesting prospect. I'd be happier if Stanford was playing at a high level under his tutelage the last couple of years. He burned it up at San Diego and has hit kind of a speed bump at Stanford, one that will likely get him fired if he can't figure it out in the next couple of years. Not that he hasn't raised their level of play, but the difference between .300 and .400 is not exactly compelling.

Why the secret? Were the Jets afraid of getting another college coach canned? His bro is legit though.. I'll take him

Sweet, that means we'll eventually get to see Harbaugh Jr. backhand his dad at some point. Since they're in the same conference.

He's the one who gave Otis Smith the "My Man" nickname.

    It's Stanford, though.

It's not much better than Northwestern.

Rick Venturi was 1-31-1 at Northwestern. Dennis Green was 10-45 there. Ara Parseghian went 36-35-1 and Lou Saban was 0-8-1.

Green was 16-18 at Stanford. Bill Walsh went 7-14-1 in his final two seasons there.
Paul Wiggin (Chiefs HC, 1975-77) went 16-28 at Stanford.

Point is, don't put a lot of stock in W-L records of Northwestern or Stanford head coaches.

I think Jim and John Harbaugh are brothers or cousins or something. Definitely not father and son though.

Interesting. He's pretty fiery and seems confident and unafraid to step up to the big boys. Remember the comments he made towards USC? Foolish, yet ballsy.

I don't know if he would be the right guy, but he seems better than others I have heard.

stanford football was at absolute rock bottom before he got there though, he's done a great job recruiting and rebuilding that program.

As an Irish fan, I am not THAT impressed with Harbaugh. He has had some signatures wins vs Oregon St this year and USC last year but outside of that he hasnt done THAT much with the Cardinal. Maybe its because I dont like Stanford too much but I think hes way too inexperienced as a head coach to suddenly make the jump to the NFL. Rather would have Jags......

For some reason I thought it had been posted already, but I guess not. I mentioned it in another thread, but it never had its own thread.

I really like Harbaugh, but he needs a few more years of experience.
