The playcalling looks alot better when players execute. he did some great things in '06, in '07 we had no OL so he cannot get the blame and in '08 our O should have been better but you can't blame him for the QB turning it over all the time.

You gusy complain about everything, when we run it nd get stuffed you say we should have thrown, when we throw and don't make it you say we should have run. it comes down to execution and we didn't execute and it falls mostly on the shoulders of the struggling QB.

I like the design of his offense, I liked how he was more creative in '06 and would like to see more of that but I am very comfortable w/ him. He was nearly a HC in multiple places so that tells me other teams want him too so he must be doing something right and for the Jets to be so high on him when they have seen his work day in and day out for 3 years I think that's more important than second guessing fans opinions.

Woody Johnson should have a tent pitched in Cowher's front yard

I want Shanahan, with a dominant DC.

Shanahan seemed to do a good job developing a young QB(Cutler), which we'll need. Plus, he also always has a dominant running game.
What do you think he would do with Leon? i think he'd find a way to get the ball into his hands. That's what kills me about hearing Shottenheimer's name, as a favorite. How the hell do you give him a HC job, when he wasn't even smart enough to get the ball into the hands of his biggest playmaker?

Player development has to be a priority. Look at the Rookies, and young players we've got. Rhoads, Brick, Harris,Clemens,Gholston. None of these guys have improved. A few even took steps back(Rhoads).
I see that as a knock on this staff. I don't think they've got anyone that knows how to develope players.I think Shanahan is important, for this reason.

Yes. Paul Hackett was the OC when CMartin won the rushing title. He was an idiot and he ran our offense. T Jones was rushing champion because he's a good player and he got good blocking this year just like Martin in 04. Jones should have had more yards, but the run game was abandoned every time we fell behind this year. He didn't even crack 300 carries.

I can't speak for other fans. My complaints, however, are all situation related. Why throw out of shotgun on 3rd and short so many times when the strength on our offense is clearly the run game? Why make the old man throw 30+ times a game? We should have utilized play-action way more this year. You have to play to your strengths... Favre was the equivalent of Kerry Collins this year, and we should have had the same approach the Titans had. I was fine with running the ball 3 straight times week 2 vs NE at the goal line... but why up the middle every time? Make one play bounce to the outside if the first 2 didn't work up the middle.
