WTF thats the only good thing about football contracts compared to other sports only the signing bonuses in contracts are guaranteed!!!! Why in gods name we Tanny put a clause stipulating Coles contract is guaranteed? If thats true he is a moron of epic proportions
Most of those contracts will be restructured: roster bonuses turned into signing bonuses, etc. It's all part of the crazy mumbo-jumbo of capology; nobody (neither agents nor the FO) ever has any intention of actually living with the back end of most contracts.
Fantastic thread, WSW. I'm gonna plug it on www.jetsdaily.com and then think about it and post it here.
I just now noticed you made the post at the end of December. Unbelievable that such an informative thread like this lasts just one page, while threads like "so premature" last three pages and counting.
Thanks for posting this. Looks like we are not getting any free agency players and for good reason. Re-sign Leon and cut the above mentioned players. As far as Favre, its up to him. I'd love to see what Favre can do when he is healthy (he clearly was not at the end of the season). When players enter free agency, they get paid absurd amounts of money, money that most of them don't deserve. Keep money at home this offseason and focus on getting as many draft picks this year and in the future.
Why would you want to get rid of Brad Smith? He's a special teams ace and only counts for $.75 million towards the cap.
Favre retires clears up a ton of money. Ellis needs to restructe. Brandon Moore's roster bonus should become a signing bonus so they can spread that 5 million out. He's deserving of a new contract and should be our RG for the next 5 years.
Is amazing who not having a complete shit line man next to you affects your play. That can be said for More, Mangold and Brick this year.
He Guartenteed the last two years of the contract to make him happy and end his holdout instead of giving him a pay raise. It was not the worst move ever, but kept our #1 receiver entering the season happy while spend no additional money on him. At the time it was a great move.
