Teddy Atlas is right on the money.

While I disagreed with many of Eric Mangini's decisions down the stretch, there is no doubt he became the sacrificial lamb for an organization's colossal ineptitude, and it all starts at the top.

Woody fell in love with Favre, and in a desperate move to sell PSL's, undermined his coach and GM. Tannenbaum comes across as the classic "Yes man," toeing the company line. He stabbed his "close friend" Eric in the back just to save his own skin.

    Bingo........

I'm finding myself feeling a little sorry for Mangini

    a little

in hindsight we shoulda just traded Chad and went with our young guys this year.... we would be a long way ahead of where we are now

    what a hack job

We don't see eye to eye on a lot of stuff but you hit the jackpot here, I felt that the Favre move from the beginning was a PSL deal but I don't think they would have traded for him if they thought he was going to suck. Even Woody isn't that stupid.

The issue isn't who is Teddy Atlas, what matters is this is a person who worked with the organization and is now talking about how clueless of a franchise and how fucked in the future we are. It doesn't matter if he is Mangini's friend he is echoing the sentiments of the players.

I keep reading people saying "if Mangini didn't like Favre why did he name his son after him?" I may have to reread the article but I don't think I saw where it said Mangini didn't like Favre, just that he was against the move to bring him in because he had already put a gameplan in place for Chad or Kellen. Mangini was put in a near impossible position and because of the situation with Favre he was forced to play him.

The more and more that continues to flow in sure make it look like Woody is another Dolan, nothing but a rich bumbling idiot that continues to meddle in areas he should be staying out of. This franchise is doomed as long as Woody is the owner. Burn in Hell Woody ....

Its hypocritical for Atlas to complain about Manstupid being scapegoated and then scapegoat BF. Just too holier than thou. Anyway, if Shott calls a better game this team is in the playoffs and all the genius Jet fans who think BF is no good would be naming their own children after Brett.

I like the pitch to Cotch on in the rain that Favre put in the playbook that was the iceberg that sank the Titianic. Nice safe call.

Look at Pennington's INT's with the Jets in both 06 and 07. How many empty backfields did we run down the stretch this year in short yardage situations? Atlas is trying to get a job with Mangini in Cleveland. Mangini doesn't believe in anyone talking to the media about what goes on in house. If Mangini is true to his philosophy, he won't hire Atlas.

Every team has criminals, religous nuts, gang bangers, straight arrows, Diva's, etc., etc., etc. The job of the coaching staff is to put 53 players in position to get the max out of their effort, make plays and combine the talents regardless of personality for a positive result. Blaming the persoanality of the QB who has had great success in his carreer for your own failure is not an indictment on the player but another nail in the coaches coffin.

Favre sucked down the stretch, his play was a big culprit in the teams failure down the stretch. He was by no means alone in his bad play down the stretch. Blaming Favre for the high risk design of our O by any member of the coaching staff is laughable.

I'm sure Pennington called the WR screen lateral to Cotch in the 06 playoff game when the Pats were lined up to blow the play up because it was a nice safe play. The hatred for Favre is justified, blaming him for the coaching failures doesn't cut it.

Exactly...you could tell in their interview together that Tannenbaum was just being Woody's little puppet. I don't believe from one minute that Tannenbaum wanted to fire Mangini....that was all Woody!!

exactly how is it that bringing in Favre this year was for PSLs in 2010?

Even Woody had to know the odds of him being the 2010 NY Jets QB then were slim to none.

It was a win it all now gamble that blew up in his face

Mangini's buddy Teddy Atlas slams Favre

Is there anybody out there who doesn't want to take a shot at New York Jets quarterback Brett Favre?

If the future Hall of Famer is going to take a punch it might as well be from a pro.

Teddy Atlas, the boxing trainer and FOEM (Friend of Eric Mangini), told the New York Post that his buddy's fate was sealed as soon as the Jets forced him to sign Favre.

"Mangini went into the season ready for a whole different approach, whether it was going to be Chad Pennington or Kellen Clemens (at quarterback), whoever won that battle," Atlas told The Post's Brian Costello. "It was going to be a secure, protect the ball, intelligent approach. It was something he was comfortable with, something he believed in. The whole plan, the whole blueprint got thrown out the window when Favre came. He's the antithesis of that. He throws the ball all over the place."

Mangini hired Atlas to work with the Jets to give them boxing training and for motivational speeches.

"I think Brett Favre basically is a selfish guy," Atlas said. "Brett Favre goes out there with his gray hair, his Wranglers and gets up when he gets hit. I understand why people like that. But there's another side. He's a selfish guy."

Teddy Atlas is one of the biggest, if not the biggest, sports "expert" idiots out there. He should just shut up. There's a thing on boxing forums called the "Atlas curse". Basically it's almost guaranteed that if Atlas picks someone to win a fight, his pick is going to lose. He's a moron.

Yes, you've been blaming the entire team's bad play and the CS's bad calls on Favre all year. No wonder fewer and fewer people take any of your posts seriously anymore. Favre sucked a lot this year, but it could have been compensated for and wasn't. No amount of Favre-hate will change that.

Has Favre ever been known to be anything other than a good teammate? Me thinks no.

If all this shit that is coming out is true, it sounds more like our guys are just whining about not having their own publicity and media coverage. He's stealing their spotlight? I'm sure Coles is upset that he's dropped a few passes and lost some fans because well he's nothing more than a #2 that needs therapy. Thomas Jones had how many yards this year? How many of those yards were purchased by the passing game? And how many people loved Favre when they were winning? I remember reading stories how gleeful they were, and Brett was a prankster ...blah blah blah.

You what what all of this is? Horseshit. Woody is a fucking wanker - no secret there, but to solely blame Favre for this team's failure down the stretch is nothing short of absurd. I guess Favre should have manned up and taken himself out, huh? Do you think for a minute that Kellen or Heathcliff (yeah I know) could have done better? NOt bloody likely!

OK Brett we're going to bench you for this guy that sucked when he was taking most of the snaps...but we're just going to have him hand it off to TJ and LJ. Like Favre can't do that? Not when the fucking coaches haven't pushed it.

When it wass apparent he wasn't throwing well they should have been ground heavy on the offense attack. Pretty simple shit here folks. At bare minimum it takes away the opportunity for INTs. So if Eric was the shit, how come Wrangler-Boy was lining up in the shotgun on 3rd and 1?

This is all so friggin dramatic. Except it's more retarded than usual. What's next, Sean Penn falling in love with another retard outside of the Meadowlands?

Exactly. The team didn't pile on Chad when he got injured and started losing games.
I was worried over the summer when I read that Favre had his own special locker room in Green Bay and when I saw that none of his teammates there seemed to want him back.
I forgot about all that when the team was 8-3 but clearly there were some locker room issues this year. There's plenty of smoke now so there must have been a fire.

have we forgotten that the team DID NOT want Chad here this season. They had shopped him, but no takers. Did they make an attempt to rework his contract? I forgot the details already.

The team was not ready to go into the season with Clemens as the starter, mainly because he sucked in early TC, which caused them to pull the trigger on ther Favre deal.

He was doing pretty good with the short passing game for a while, but the team lost its edge after Thanksgiving and never got it back. That ultimately is the fault of the HC.

Because Chad is Mr. Nice Guy except without the creds to backup his being hailed as "saviour"

The guy threw 4 picks yesterday and people were stinkin up his hang-low with "oh it's not his fault"...again...blah blah blah.

Who cares if Favre had his own office? Did it stop him from owning every meaningful record in the game? No.

So why else would they all take shots at Favre now? Special treatment. Everyone hates the teacher's pet. Except here's the problem...LC will be but a distant stat on junc's sheet in 10 years and Favre will be in the HOF. Thomas Jones is one slow season away from being what he was.....invisible.

When you've earned that right to demand what you want, people need to recognize. All these F'ing whiners are B rate players at best.

Teddy Atlas should have come up with some better motivational speeches for the team in weeks 13-17. I blame him for everything. Fuck him, who the fuck is he again?

Since farve was brought here to sell psl's then it would make sense to get rid of because he is not the most popular guy right now

I don't like to quote myself but Atlas confirms what I already thought had happened. The more I think about it the more I believe that Woody pushing Favre on Mangini hurt the team's chemistry which came to a head the last 1/3 of the season.
