What do you all want the Jets to do this off season? Who do you want them to sign? What players/positions should we draft? Who should we get as a head coach? Who should we cut?

    My Offseason
    -Get rid of Schotty/Sutton.
-Get either Spags or Rex Ryan as our new Head Coach and let them hire coordinators.
-Tell Brett Favre we don't want him. Don't even let him choose for himself.
-With the 1st three picks we should draft a WR/QB/Secondary
    -Resign Tony Richardson
-Lock up Leon Washington w/ a long term deal
-Cut Bryan Thomas and his overpaid contract

    What about u guys?

    that's horrible. We should

    1. Bring Brett Back
    2. Let Brett call his own plays
    3. Never run the ball with TJ or Leon ever again
    4. Lock up Sutton as DC for 10 years
    5. Promote Shotty to HC
    6. Draft OLB/TE/TE with our first 3 picks

3Lixer your very funny.but seriously i like your ideas steve032 as long as we maybe trade down to get a 5 star MLB such as laurinitis or spikes to help our disgusting coverage and possibly create one of the best young MLB tandems in the league in HARRIS/SPIKES or HARRIS/LAURINITIS..also you may add to the list the CB ASOMUGHA from the free agency so that way we dont have to waste a pick on a rookie corner

i like your ideas but you need to revise...
A)obtain the CB Asomugha from Free Agency
B)draft either spikes or laurinitis instead of a rookie corner who no-matter-what would get picked on the whole season regardless of talent
C)obtain either lewis, suggs,or landry from the Ravens Free Agent list ,these are all big bucks stud players who i doubt the Ravens can pan out fat contracts to all 3

Sometimes, truth isn't good enough, sometimes people deserve more. Sometimes people deserve to have their faith rewarded.

    Re-hire Mangini.

The problem with that is. If Brett wants to come back there is nothing the Jets can do about it. If they cut him they owe GB 3 firsts. They could bench him but that would just be one big drama that could ruin the team. So the Jets are handicapped here imo. If Favre wants to play football next season then he is our starting QB.

You people that don't want Favre back are rediculous. Did you see how well he was playing up to and including week 12? He was injured after that which caused his erratic play. He is our best option in 09. Do you guys not remember the games like against Tenn when he was rolling on all cylinders with a 100+ passer rating? A healthy Favre dominates, let him heal up and bring him back. I want another run at the title, we would've had it this year if he didn't get hurt.

We won't owe shit to anybody if we cut Favre. Since when did the teams started giving up first rounders for releasing players?

Favre trade clause only said that if we TRADE him to an NFC North, only then we owe 3 picks to GB. If we release him and he ends up on an NFC North team roster, we will owe a big mac to GB...n thats all

The one thing I would change would be drafting mainly defense in the draft, mainly secondary.

There is nothing stopping the Jets from cutting Favre.

The terms of the favre deal are the following:

    nfl.com/news/story?id=09000d5d809ccdb9&template=with-video&confirm=true

The draft pick traded for Favre turns into a third-round selection if he plays in 50 percent of the plays this season, a second-rounder if he plays in 70 percent of the plays and the Jets qualify for the playoffs, and a first-round pick if he plays in 80 percent of the plays and Jets make it to the Super Bowl.

Schefter reports if Favre were to retire after the first year and the Packers got the Jets' first-round pick, then the Packers would send the Jets a fifth-round pick in 2010. If the Packers get the Jets' second-round pick, the Jets would get back the Packers' sixth-round pick in 2010. If the Packers get the Jets' third-round pick, the Jets would get back the Packers' seventh-round pick in 2010. Additionally, in the scenario in which the Packers would get the Jets' first-round pick, Favre must play in at least 50 percent of one playoff game for Green Bay to get that compensation.

Schefter also reports that the Packers took great pains to ensure Favre would not be traded to the Vikings -- or any other NFC North team -- by inserting a "poison pill" in the deal. If Favre were to be traded to any team in the Packers' division, the Jets would have to surrender three first-round picks to Green Bay. The trade also includes provisions preventing a trade to another team if that new team were to trade him to the NFC North.

If thats true then my fault. I could have sworn I heard somebody on WFAN say that. I probably just heard it wrong. They probably said trade to an NFC North team. For some reason I was under the impression that if he was traded to or cut and signed with an NFC North team while under his current contract then the Jets owed GB 3 firsts. My mistake.

This is what i would personally want to see us do:

    1) Hire Steve Spagnuolo and let him pick his own coordinators
    2) Tell Brett Favre to stay in Mississippi
    3) Draft Harvin in the first round and Tebow in the 2nd (if he is there of course) and if Darius Butler is available later, take him, he will be a good nfl Corner IMO draft ILB Scott McKillop, one of the most underated players in the draft, could go quite late, but if any team has there head screwed on he will go early, but if he is there, take him.
    4) Re-sign Tony Richardson, Jay Feeley, let Barton and Nugent walk
    5) Make Keller the main TE and trade Chris Baker for whatever we can get (Draft pick wise)

and how does that set the building blocks for a sustainable team? one bad knock and were screwed for a decent QB, BF is old and more likely to get screwed up by a dodgy sack, we need to get some new blood in at QB so we can work on getting a team that can keep on at it.
