Everyone here is saying that were giving up a 3rd for favre, isnt it a 4th? I thought the clause was that it would escalate to a 3rd if we made the playoffs which we didnt, anyone clarify this for me?
yeah it became a 3rd after he played 50% of the offensive snaps. i think it was 50% not totally sure.
There's a thread on this somewhere, I think we have a decent amount. We should be getting a 2sie from the Vilma deal.
Jets get a 2nd for Vilma only if they re-sign/extend his contract. But if that happens then they don't have a 2nd rounder to give the Giants for Shockey, so they would have to give them their first. In other words, they won't extend Vilma's contract, they'll let him become a free agent instead - and then sign him to a new contract. Does anybody remember what the clause was if the Jets traded or cut Favre? I recall it being three first round picks if Favre ended up back in the NFC North, but was that just for the '08 season?
If the Jets let the Saints get away with signing Vilma as an FA they are even dumber than we all think.
If Favre is TRADED to an NFC North team, only then they give up 3 first rounders. We could have released Favre the first day we traded for him and give up just the 4th for him. We still can not trade him to the NFC North however unless Woody wants to see nobody in the stands for just a few more decades to come...or unless the NFC North team wants to give up 4 first rounders...which is when this world will come to an end.
Eric Barton is a goner and I hope David Bowen is released too. Vilma would be ideal if we can afford him AND pick up the third in the process...Great deal innit?
I also believe that if Favre retires after this year, then the Packers give us a 5th round pick. I may be wrong, though.
So the Jets get a 4th pick...since this season was a total bomb QB wise. 22TD 22 INT sucks...it is not decent, not avarage, its downright bad.
