The longer i let this soap opera that is our JETS settle in, the more the truth is coming to light, IMO.
Lets be honest, Mangini does not sell PSL's. Favre does. Cower would. Not Mangini.
Woody is in panic mode, if you ask me. He wants to keep us on the back page, which Favre did, win or lose. That's why they want Favre back. Thats why they want Cower on the sidelines.
I truely believe Woody is more concerned with selling PSL's, then with winning football games. Did you see how he mentioned the fans, and how he didn't want to disappoint us? He wants to keep up the excitement that Favre created around this franchise, so we, the fans, will spend our $$$ in his new stadium.
Cower would be a great coach. I just think the reasoning behind the hire, and the man love, for Favre is all about the green. The color of the $, not the uniform.

You just figured that out now? I have been saying this all year..from the FA signings..to the Favre trade...everything is calculated to sell PSLs and it will all disappear after they do. If Favre retires I can guaranty that you won't see Ratliff or Clemens leading this team next year too. They will sign another FA or make another trade...bank on it.

Call me nieve, but i really thought our FO cared about winning. I thought, by looking at the Patriots franchise, and taking someone who was a diciple of Belicheck, they wanted to build a strong franchise, with a winning tradition.
Now, with them singing the praises of a QB who just threw 22 interceptions, and basically letting him run this franchise, this just proves your point, DON, and a lot of other peoples opinions. This team is not about winning football games, or fan loyalty. It's about greed. SAD.

The fact they are keeping Tannenbaum (so far) is a bad sign to me too. In the end he may end up with just a title and doing contracts again but if he stays in the role of what a true GM is supposed to be doing then we are still in trouble.

I'm not sure about my feelings for Tannenbaum. I think he brought some really good players to this team, via FA, and the draft.
My only shot at Tanny is the Pennington fiasco. You CANNOT give up a playoff tested, starting QB, and get nothing in return. Especially to your division rival!
I think Tanny should be the cap guru, and let a football guy run the organization. I don't like a coach/Gm. I think coaches should coach.
I am also wondering how much input Mangini had with who we drafted?

I gotta totally disagree with you here. Yes all the $$$ are a huge factor for any owner, having a strong fan base happy and spending is just business sense, but to slight Woody after all he spent in FA is unfair. And remember we spent this money long before we had Farve. Woody shelled out for a success now team and he went with the GM and the Coach.

I understand a lot of fans have issues with Woody and we all feel we are being ripped financially by these ownwers and the NFL but it really is the nature of this beast and sport we love. I have to stand up for Woody here, he has spent a lot of money this year and has acted in my opinion correctly by firing Mangini so we can move forward. A lot of people should be looking at themselves right now and not least our hapless D and O coaches and if Farve can't reach a decision about his future after his display this season he needs to wake up.

Does he realize that winning is first and foremost and that we as fans couldn't find our way out of a wet paper bag, when it comes to what is needed to be a successful franchise?

We as fans know that Brett Favre is not the answer. He is exciting to an extent, I'm a BF fan, but I want to see this team win first and foremost. I just hope this team can find a compromise and find a QB that is exciting to an extent but a winner ahead of all else.

Brett Favre was that guy, two years ago.

If Woody was all about building a winning team, he would realize Favre is done. It's time to move on. It was the right decision at the time, but after watching him play during the season, you can, or should see the hand writing on the wall. The Favre experiment was a FAILURE!
I love the fact that Woody opened his checkbook, this offseason, and got us some pretty good players. I just think the way it's going with the man love for Favre, it proves to me that SELLING is more important then WINNING.

We are on the same page Joe. Farve has been a disaster and surely he will see sense and realise it is time for him to hang them up. I think Woody and Tanna also know that. Can you imagine a new coach, moving forward and then "pickmachine" throws his first interception next season. Fans would bring down the new stadium. We have to move on and that means without Farve.

Cant agree more. Woody is 100% about the money. I keep seeing posts about "this is a business and thats the way it is"..blah..blah...blah but there are plenty of different types of ownership in the sports world and many of the owners take particular pride in the organization and make every effort to win a championship. Sadly we do not have such ownership and I may never see such in my lifetime.

We all know someone like Woody. Hes the guy that never even played street football as a kid but tries to talk about the game last night around the water cooler and has no idea what he is talking about. Hes never had the wind knocked out of him, high fived over a game of 2 on 2 with steady QB.

He was too busy on a Yacht in the Caymens growing up. He's a silver spooned geek who wants acceptance and you can practically see him trying to make his mark in this world by spending his J&J money on his new stadium and "buying" Brett Favre. His "Football Priorities" are completely off the mark and Tannenbaum is too gutless to disagree with him. We lost under Leon Hess quite a bit (who was too loyal to some bad talent) but I believe he really did want a winner and tried to do what it took to win.

    Its depressing.
