Anyone that knows football understands that there are a few reasons that we did not make the playoffs this year and the number one reason is the play of Brett Farve down the stretch.

There are rumors that he did not like like being treated like everyone else when he was treated like a prima donna at GB.If that is the case, then we made a major mistake of getting rid of Mangini. You can only win in the NFL by being a team, look at the Giants and the Patriots. I hate them both but they win because they do not have double standards for anyone.

In my opinion the biggest mistake that Mangini made is that he did not fire both Shottenheimer and Sutton after last season. He stayed with them and therefore it cost him his job. However, if we fired him without giving him one more year with Romeo Crennel as his DC and Callahan as his OC in order to sign one of the coaches that Donna Farve says he will play for, then I am done being a fan of the New York Jets after 43 years.

Like all die hard Jets fans I have suffered a lot over the years and still came back hoping that we would finally turn it around.

If we cave to Farve and do not hire either Rex Ryan or Steve Spagnolla then I am done being a Jets fan. If that is the case there is no way that I can root for two guys like "Lucky sperm club Woody Johnson" and Mike Tannenbaum who if this is the case, would have turned on his hand picked coach without giving him his full shot if indeed it was just because Farve did not want to play for him.

The saddest part of the press conference today is that neither Woody or Mike T. took any responsibility for being the ones that were behind acquiring a washed up 39 year old QB and releasing their own QB without even trying to acquire a draft pick to offset the pick we would lose on Farve. Any good businessman knows that all Mike T. had to tell the Packers when they agreed to the deal is to not announce it for three days so that they could have received a few picks for Pennington. But no, we needed to start selling shirts and licenses for our new stadium.

Woody and Mike T., don't cave and hire Rex Ryan or Spagnolla or risk the possibility of losing a lot of fans.

No--lies and slander hurt--but I was still out of line. I've spent too much time on the site today, I'm sure. Peace.

    Goodbye.

I love all the "fans" bailing on the team. The Jets fanbase will be stronger after this.

We're a joke of a fan base if we have so many people bailing on a 9-7 team. Mad respect to Lions, Chiefs, Raiders, Bengals, Rams, etc. fans.

Jets fan - "wah wah wah, poor me, poor me, I had to watch a 9-7 team".
Lions fan - "your a baby"

We don't have it that bad, relax.

A whole offseason, get chemistry with the receivers, most notably Keller...Buy into the right coach(Cowher)

And I would love to have Brett back for one more season...Gives us the best chance to win.

What are you talking about? If Brett Favre comes back, lets quit watching the Jets because poor us, we have to watch a 9-7 team......

    Sarcasm.

Thats exactly what I thought...Then after throwing 9 picks and 2 tds in 5 games, I was wrong.

Play calling was aweful, but that does not defend the bad play of the QB.

Hey, it's a long offseason. It's the same story: many fans jump ship after the season, only to return in August and get their hopes up for a 3-13 team. At least it's looking like we'll have a nice draft pick in 2010. Any decent QBs in that class?

Whether or not Favre returns, this team will end up getting hammered in 2009. Better to save the cash and invest it in future talent...not yesteryear's news.

If Eric Mangini did not understand that bringing in an HOF player of Bret Favre's caliber meant that he might have to change his personal system of treating everyone alike, then he ws a total idiot who needed to be fired ASAP. Too bad it took so long.

I would tend to think hat every other player in the locker room would understand that Bret Favre is a superstar and didn't need to run laps after making a mistake during training camp. Remember that, Jets fans? Yes, let's now think about how much Bret must have enjoyed being Mangini's butt boy...

But that was our Eric... He had his system, and he wasn't going to change it for ANYONE. Not even Bret F'N Favre.

    Good for you, Eric!

Don't let the door hit your ass on the way out!

You fail to remember that Favre said he wanted to run laps and be treated like everyone else.

I guess you would agree that everything Favre says is full of sh*t then???

I'm fine with firing Mangini, but Favre was garbage down the stretch and that was not Mangini's fault, HE JUST BLEW!!!
