Thanks for ur opinion but 1-15 to 11-5 & a PO berth earns kudos no matter how you choose to slice & dice it
Yes but as of now they are under contract still, the point being that Schott Jr has not been fired which keeps Schott Sr in play as HC, which would be a nightmare.
http://weblogs.newsday.com/sports/football/bob_blog/2008/12/dont_discount_marty_schottenhe.html Posted by Bob Glauber on December 29, 2008 1:48 PM If Schottenheimer were to join the Jets, he would retain his son, Brian, who is currently the team's offensive coordinator .
That is exactly right. Schottenheimer may not have won the big one. But he is a professional football coach who gets quality results. Its ridiculous to think that because he hasnt won the big one yet, he never can. Couple bounces here or there, or should I say flags, and Bill Cowher is marty schottenheimer.
I agree with you on that although looking at the game plan that Marty usually has and what Schotty brought out, it is basically opposites, Marty is 3 yards and a cloud of dust while Schotty is so cutesy with his play calls that it is nauseating
Actually, that's not true at all. That just shows how inept the previous regime was. Miami was never as bad as their record last year. Parcells got the players he wanted as he always does and that is why they were successful this year. Too bad Tannenbaum couldn't learn something from him. Hopefully he is next out the door.
So when the Jets went from 4-12 to 10-6 and made the PO where were your kudos for Mangini? champ, you are like a greedy fat kid...always wanting a bite of another guys cheesburger.
LOL yeah. How sick would it be to watch father and son duke it out on the sidelines? Then they could have their own reality show and go to therapy an' shit. Lil' Schotty being sent to his office for a time-out. That would be massive!
Just looking at the Marty Schottenheimer coaching tree, it is shocking how much better it is then the Belichick coaching tree.
So, Cowher has told the Browns and the Lions he is not interested. Huge by the fact that he hasn't said it, there is no news that he has told that to Jets.
For all those begging for Cowher, just remember: It took him 15 YEARS to win a Super Bowl in Pittsburgh. Would you be willing to wait that long? How many coaches are given that much time to get it done in today's NFL?
Remember that his teams were almost always superbowl contenders and he made 6 AFC championship games. Yeah he only won 1 superbowl 15 years in, but he almost always had a legit contender - and that was with shitty QB's for the most part.
Maybe Marty is the way to go then, Cowher has only been with one team while Marty has been successful in 3 different franchises taking all 3 to an elite type level.
I wouldn't be opposed to either, I just prefer Cowher. He's younger and has a more smash mouth approach.
