two points in this thread: 1. Did anyone catch Favre's pep-talk in the huddle before the game? i mean.. are you kidding me? "I love you guys"? wow. talk about having one foot out the door and checking out early. How could any team win with that attitude? 2. C'mon people.. already, we are seeing threads pop up about how the decision to fire Mangini was all about money and that they didn't give a reason for the firing, etc. etc. Are you really that naive? First of all, the will never give a reason for the firing. That never happens.. you don't beat the guy into the ground after letting him go.. you say.. "it just didnt work out.. he wasn't a good fit" and you let it be. Think about how bad it would look if Tennanbaum or Johnson said "we fired him because he couldn't get it done" or something to that effect. Not only would it completely ruin mangini's career, but it would make T and J look like complete jerks. Second.. Favre is a hall of fame legend, despite anything.. you could never go out there and say "we don't want him back next season", even if you really don't. And let's get real about something else.. the money to be made on Favre as already been made.. after this season and a disappointing ending, and just the overall grim feeling at the end.. do you really expect the team to think they can sell MORE seats having him come back to lead the team next year? He's already labeled himself as washed up.. thats not something that really gets fans excited about an upcoming season. Favre was a one-hit wonder. We all knew that if we didn't make the playoffs, thats how it would be. Time to take a long hard look at the team and what it needs in terms of type of coach/coordinators and personnel. I trust Mr. T.
Favre's little speech was quite a contrast from someone like Ray Lewis. I like a little fire in the huddle... not: "Let's do the best we can... if we win, we win.. if we don't then we don't. C'mon guys.. group hug!"
I particularly like "Let's play our game guys...Whatever that is..." WTF? You have been here a year and you still don't know what "our game" is?
Worst I've heard... I get easily pumped up and my pulse didn't even increase after listening to that. "Whatever happens, happens" LOL
I threw up in my mouth when he said that. He's not supposed to be leading those speeches -- Thomas Jones is. I knew we weren't winning as soon as they showed him.
i guess "our game guys", was when he said "lets play like we did when we won 5 straight". lol it was a really bad speech
i can see none of you guys know anything about Farve... That how he has talked his whole 19 years so why should that be any different. Before you jump on a guy make sure you know him.
I could swear I saw one of the other Jets (I think maybe Tony Richardson) rolling his eyes at the end of Favre's little speech.
Farve is the reason your sorry team won 10 games, you would have had 4 wins with just about any other QB.
Not only the pep talk. But showing ZERO class by running off the field as soon as time ran out. Talk about slinking away from the scene of the crime. What, did he have first dibs on the shower? The guy has no skill left and no class. He is an embarassment. BTW - we won 9 games
I told my brother we were gonna lose right after hearing Favre's speech. It was a stark contrast to someone like Drew Brees in the pregame huddle. He sounded like he knew we were gonna lose...
