I know many of you were happy when we picked up Ty Law, our pass defense looked terrible, and opposing QBs were just picking on Lowery. However, as we have seen the past couple of weeks, it doesn't matter who is in there because our defensive scheme is awful. By replacing Lowery we Law, we lost a faster, more athletic player. Since having Law start, our run defense has taken a turn for the worst and we still aren't forcing any interceptions. Even when QB's were picking on Lowery, he was athletic enough to make some decent plays and has forced the most fumbles on our team. Replacing Lowery was a huge mistake and we are paying for it the past 4 weeks.

So what about the wins vs. NE and Tenn?

There are a lot of problems with the team right now, and Law hasn't been great, but I think it's crazy to pinpoint the epic fail on him.

Did you just become a Jets fan these past 3-4 weeks? Surely you missed the numerous times he was torched the first half of the year. He was benched for a reason. Law isn't that good at this point in his career, but he is still an upgrade over Lowery. At least for now. I dont see Law being on the team next year....

Blaming anybody in the secondary is hard to do because we haven't put any pressure on the QB in the last 4 games.

Seneca Wallace had so much time it was ridiculous. Eventually, even Revis is going to get carved up (and he was a couple of times). You can't expect any DB to pass-protect forever if the QB has 5-8 seconds to release the ball.

This is what bothers me most about this week. If we don't find a way to pressure the living dog shit out of Pennington on Sunday he's going to carve us up. Nobody was as good as Penny was if you gave him time, and nobody was as poor as Penny was if he didn't have time.

Sutton, you know what you have to do on Sunday.

I'll take Lowrey over Law any day of the week. At least Lowery was making plays behind the line of scrimage and can tackle. Since Law has come in has anyone heard is name mentioned on the field? The guy is invisible.

The only time you hear Lowerys name mentioned is when he gets torched in coverage or he misses a gimme sack on a QB. He has one tackle for loss and 0 sacks all year. Maybe you have him confused with someone else.

    Defensive- ----Tackles---- -------------------Miscellaneous----- Interceptions
Statistics-----TOT-SOLO-AST-SACK-TLOSS --FF-- BK-- PD------ INT- YDS- AVG -LNG -TD

No I don't have him confused with another player. Judging by the stats, it's easy to notice who's making the plays and who isn't.

Of course he is gonna have more numbers in those categories genius! He played 1/2 more of a season then Law has and EVERYONE picked on him when he was starting, thus the high tackle numbers. He was benched for a reason. I dont think Mangina decided to bench him because he was getting the job done.

Neither Lowery nor Law have played good. That's what it comes down to... they both suck and have both been picked on.

Actually Ive been a Jet fan all my life, I'm just smart enough to realize what is a better option. Law hasn't done shit since he got here, hes dropped sure interceptions, has only 2 pass breakups in 5 games and can't shed blocks. I understand your point about the high tackle numbers, but as you can see he leads our team in forced fumbles. Over any linebacker or DE..the kid just knows how to strip a ball. Rewatch the Seattle game and see how hard he tackles and how he puts his hat on the ball. He also can shed blocks from a WR and make backfield tackles unlike Law.

Atleast when teams were picking on Lowery, we knew who to double team and where the ball was going to go on third down. And if Lowery had good coverage, we were usually able to get to the QB and get sacks. Since Law has come in, our sack total has dropped consistently partly due to the reason that he plays 10 yards off the receiver and opposing QBs are spreading the ball around. I agree our scheme is terrible for getting to the QB, but when an opposing QB is locked onto throwing to one receiver based on the fact that Lowery is covering him, eventually Lowery will cover well and allow our front line to get to the QB or atleast complete the pass short. There is no doubt in my mind, the lack of athleticism Ty Law has shown over the last couple weeks is killing our team. And its not helping Lowery's confidence what so ever.

I hate Ty Law for dropping that easy INT late in the 4th against Seattle.

I'm not a big Ty Law fan but Lowry isn't much of a better option, he gets torched a lot. But he's young, so at least he gains experience if he's in there.

Neither of them suck at all. The Jets inability to put pressure on the passer is what sucks. Lately their inability to protect the passer is hurting more though.

It's like a switch turned off and both sides of the trenches have become absolutely incompetent in the passing game. That's making everybody else look lousy too.
