Why did the NFL put the Ravens at 4? Could it be so that the Jets still have something to play for -- and -- a win would get the Pats in (assuming the Pats win)?
Could be......wouldn't want the Jets to go in the tank just to screw the Pats now, would we? At least they'll have something to play for...If Ravens and Pats games were early and they BOTH won their games, The Jets couldn't get in no matter what.....they could play for better draft position and screw the Pats.....A Miami and Raven's win means those two teams are in and Pats are 11-5 and locked out.......Good move by NFL ......
The NFL put the game at 4 because both teams are fighting for a playoff spot. Think of it this way: the Patriots will be off the field and powerless at the time their destiny for 2008 is decided. If they win and the Dolphins and Ravens both win they are out. A conspiracy would have been to put the Patriots-Bills at 4 and move the Ravens game up to 1pm, leaving the Jets there also. That would have given the Pats the certainty of knowing whether or not a win against the Bills would get them in. 99% chance the Pats win in that situation.
Its just to make the game meaningful and nothing else. The jets had there chance to get rid of the pats and they blow it
Wasn't there a conspiracy theory about the NFL pushing for the Jets to be in the playoffs after we beat Tennessee? Conspiracy theories = fail.
Why did they put the Jets at 4? They were at 1 too. There are plenty of legitimate theories about the NFL and the Pats but this isn't one of them.
yes, because clearly the Jets are the only factor in the Jets/Dolphins game and the Dolphins performance and motivation will not have any effect on the outcome. it is all dependent on the Jets. how insecure do you have to be about the Pats that you contrive such nonsensical, ego-centric B.S.? you do realize that the Pats can win at 1 and still miss the playoffs, don't you, because the win will give the Dolphins just as much motivation to play hard as the Jets will have? oh wait, you don't, because only the Jets motivation will effect the game according to your position. I can't even begin to list the ways that your argument is just f'ing stupid.
hahahaha great thread. Definitely reasonable. Not retarded in the least. nope, not a bit. Of course the NFL wants the Pats to be in the playoffs. Because that way..ummm well ya know....there would be the.....ummmm well.....ok I give up. Tell me why the NFL wants the Pats in the playoffs.
Pats fans are saying otherwise... and for a good reason too, just like yours. Lesson? Conspiracy theory just doesn't pay. *Please stop dumb shit like this.*
Them moving our game helps the Dolphins more than it does the Pats. Think about it this way 1. If the Pats lose. Oh boy, that stadium will be rocking and the players will be thinking win and in. Of course, this is unlikely to happen 2. If the Pats win. Well, they still go out there to win but now you have the Ravens-Jags game in the back of your mind. As much as the coach and everyone can talk about "we're focused on this game blah blah" you'd have to be fooling yourself if they aren't thinking about the Jags-Ravens game IF this scenario happens.
If there was a conspiracy they would have made sure the Jets beat the Seahawks so that this coming Miami game would be the primo game in the NFL of the year. Didn't happen. Fuck the Pats.
all steviep wanted for Christmas was to create a thread that would be profound and exhibited his astute skills of rationale and observation. steviep will be converting to Judaism.
becuase either the giants or jets game had to be moved from 1pm since they never play in the same time slot.
