I hate to be the one beating on a dead horse but to me, the turning point of the season is clearly the "Not so apparent" Cotchery fumble at 9:31 remaining in the 1st Quarter. Up until this point, there is no dispute that the fan confidence in this team was at an all-season high. That fumble gave the fans and the team a heartache that we have been so spoiled to not see for several weeks. Fans started believing again that we are beatable, Mangini and the coordinators started coaching scared. Throughout the ups and down of the Jets' season, one thing was consistent. The team cannot coach, and execute plays from behind in the scores!! After that fumble call, I knew we were in for a long ride. The point I'm trying to make is, a single play so unapparent at the time, is capable of turning around a season in an instant. It's funny because many of us agree that the call was the byproduct of the Football Gods and a "should've retired already referee". That play, if it wasn't fumbled, would have lead to a huge gain, and probably a touchdown. I am confident that the Jets would've took a huge lead thereafter, never to look back. Sitting at 9-3, 10-3, 11-3...yadda yadda.. Should've, could've, would've.... i know i know.. Just a thought I wanted to share. Here's to the Jets playing for a miracle come Sunday!! :beer:
I would think it was one of Bretts stupid INT's in the past 4 weeks. Take your pick on which one, there have been a lot.
The turning point was at 8-3, Fans and the team thought it was not going to be Same Old Jets and were duped. Also Kris Jenkins decided to become the invisible man.
If one play like that can ruin the season then we weren't that good to begin with. Not to mention Thomas Jones got those 7 points right back with a 60 yard TD run or whatever it was in the same quarter.
It's insane to think that this could have done it but you're right it could have. How? No clue, but the Jets have just sucked bawlz since then.
That is it. If we were to graph performance vs. the event it would look like the fall of the market in September and October.
I agree with the OP. The real problem with that whole play is our idiotic coaching staff calling a toss reverse in the pouring rain.
Good question! There was even some MVP whispers for this guy. Now this team is back to being mediocre against the run. It's very unsettling! I'm seeing Sione Pouha, our backup NT, on the field more often. While he's a decent player, he's no Kris Jenkins. IMO, he must be getting worn down.
Doesn't Jenkins have a bad hip? This is a massive individual and its hard to move that much mass around with a bad hip. He's human afterall albeit an extremely large human. I'd have to go with gimpy on this Jenkins thing.
