For those who still would like to see the jets make the playoffs (i know, very few seem to want this)

There are two ways for it to happen.

In either case, the Jets must beat Miami. Of course, this is obvious. Should they do that:

    1. NE Loses to the bills, who just beat Denver. This happens, Jets win division.

    2. Ravens lose, Jets win wildcard.

Two different ways to get in. Of course, most doubt the ravens lose to the Jags... but the Jags fought hard and had Indy on the ropes last week. Also, no one thought Buffalo was going to return to the begining of season form and beat Denver, which allowed the Chargers backj in the playoff discussion... and god knows no one wants to face the chargers right now.

NE losing also doesn't seem likely against buffalo, but it's on the road and Buffalo just came off an impressive win. They will want to end the season strong, and anytime you can prevent a division rival from getting to the playoffs you would love to end a disapointing season like this.

EDIT: Forgot that NE would take the ravens spot should they lose, so... I guess no matter how you cut it, NE must lose, which was more likely then the ravens losing anyways.

    What if..We beat Miami

Pats beat Bills (2 Win the AFC East)

    And Ravens lose...

Wouldnt that get us in as the wild card?

I think no because the Ravens would then have the same record as the Jets and beat them in tie-breakers to get the wild card spot.

If the Ravens lose and we win we have the better conference record. Isn't that the first tie breaker for teams not in the same division?

Guys please 14 times already....The Jets get the wildcard if they win and the Ravens lose. The OP had it right and then he edited to make it wrong. If the Pats win they wouldnt get the Ravens spot, THEY WIN THE DIVISION!!!!!!!!!! This really isnt complicated at all. Jets win and Pats lose, Jets win division. Jets win and Rvens lose, Jets win Wildcard. Jets win and Pats AND Ravesn lose, Jets win division and Dolphins get wildcard. Have a nice day

Don't you love the fact that the team has deteriorated so greatly that we need to "back-in" to a playoff spot?

Here is reality. First we do not deserve to occupy a playoff berth. A more desrving team should go. Second; we will mail it in this weekend for sure. We are primadonnas and lack any fire at all. The Phins along with our Ex-QB will come in and kick our butts 31 to 10.

Plus NE will win and the Ravens will win. They are actually capable of getting pumped up when something is on the line.

Koz, you just risked having junc come in here and tell us that there is no such thing as backing into the playoffs...which I agree with but the way he will tell you will be the annoying part. I honestly hope Brett Favre gets the stomach virus I had last week and doesnt play. I hate him.

If we beat Miami and one of the teams ahead of us loses then we make the playoffs and deserve to. The concept of not deserving to go to the playoffs is ridiculous, if the team makes the playoffs they deserve to go.

With that said, they probably don't go to the playoffs and deserve not to go with the way they have played the last month.

Here's what I want as a Jets fan.

"The NY Jets have enough wins to make the playoffs on their own."

    NOT

"The sun must be at 32 degrees over Quito on 1 January 2009, a vending machine in Los Angeles must short 7 individuals .25 each over a 3 week period, Baltimore must lose and or Miami and NE lose, etc, etc. etc...."

Pathetic that this team couldn't find their own way into the playoffs.

We are not beating Miami. There is just no way. First, Miami is at least 3 times better than the schmucks we played yesterday. So that translates to a 39 to 9 shellacking of Ganggoons in the Meadowlands. We deserve to be humiliated now; we've earned it.

IF the jets are sitting home this year, which team would you rather see make it in, NE or the Fish? For me, it's the fish hands down.

i'd rather watch 'our' penny in a playoff game then listen to how great belicheck is for making it with a highschool QB.

plus, the further penny goes, the worse our trade for favre looks. not sure if this is a good thing or not, but whatever.

We all want that and yes this collapse has been pathetic but if the final weekend one team loses a game they need to win, it is no different then the Jets losing a game they needed to win.

 Here. Here. Last year we knew we stank. This year we were lulled into thinking we were good only to find out that we suck worse than last year; only the difference is; this year we paid huge dollars to stink and we were very successful.

Miami has been barely scraping by the same crap schedule we have, they aren't last years Patriots. I think we will beat the Dolphins and miss the playoffs.

Like Koz, I hate relying on "scenarios."

Win and get in, plain and simple.

Okay so if the Jets win, the Patriots lose, and Baltimore wins, the Jets get the division and Baltimore gets the wildcard spot.

But if the Jets win, the Patriots lose, and Baltimore loses, who gets the wildcard spot?
    Miami, New England, or Baltimore?
