lol yeah, right on the money.... I doubt this story is true though.....if this was going to happen it would have been done by now. Plus, it isn't only the playcalling, its the system too.
I still believe a coach is as good as his braintrust. If the braintrust is better, so will the Jets. Sutton goes, Schotty may be out on his own. Schotty does have the 3rd highest scoring offense, so i'd give him one more year. Give me Marvin Lewis when he is fired from the Bengals and Bill Callahan promoted to OC if schotty goes..... that braintrust should sustain succcess in the division for a whie.
Hasn't Mangini taken over the playcalling after both byes in the year previously? Were the bye's later than this years? Anyway, thats good. I mean, it sucks that he'll be doing someone elses job as well as HC, but thats the price of having a Sutton.
I wonder if the rumors that Mangini has his heart set on Rob Ryan are true, it would be weird if Mangini got fired cuz he was waiting for his dream DC to come along. Prolly some sort of life message in that.
I think it's true. We have an awful pass Defense where the D backs are confused about the system this late into the season. That is bad coordinating no matter which way you cut it. I think Mangini finally realizes it's cut the bullshit time.
So nobody knows if Mangini has ALREADY taken over playcalling? Wasn't the original source for this rumour discussed on WFAN? Did anyone hear it when it was discussed?
This would have been reported earlier if it happened earlier .... something like this doesn't go unannounced or unnoticed in today's NFL.
I heard it this morning when Jerry Recco was on with Richard Neer. They didn't get into specifics as to how much Mangini was involved in playcalling before or if he will be calling plays now, but Recco mentioned he has become much more involved in the defense this week a la the way he was after the bye weeks the previous years.
i am thrilled...ive been calling out manginis level of balls because of the fact he hasnt done this...but now that he has i think this is a situation where we will see how mangini really can run this team especially his forte which is defense....if the defensive playcalling improves he buys another year IMO
Yeah it was mentioned. Again nothing specific though as to who was actually doing what. Also, I recall them mentioning that this has either been widely reported or that it had been widely speculated all week. I've had a busy week at work so I haven't been reading up as much as usual. But that's obviously not the case as apparent by this thread.
I'm hopeful because last yr when Mangini took over the defensive calls the defense got better. Let's hope that's the same case this year
This thread is the first I've heard of it. I wonder where they even got the "like previous seasons after the bye week" thing from because I don't recall even hearing about that. I know there had been a significant upgrade in the defense in '06 and '07 after the bye week but don't remember ever hearing Mangini being more involved. Interesting comments. Hopefully the D looks better this week.
Enough bullshit. Theres no reason this D shouldnt go in there and hold the seahawks to 10-14 points. Its a second string line and second string qb.
