One of our strongest units is struggling big time.

We're giving up big returns and committing LOTS of penalties. This was the one unit that was a pretty solid and consistent performer, but now its going to sh1t.

    BlairThomas,

    you are 100% correct.

People knock Brad for not being dynamic on offense, and Ghoulston for showing up on defense. Truth is, they are HUGE for our ST, and when both are out, it shows lacking. Them + Wallace Wright are huge key components for the ST, and we need all three on the field for it to be great

Yes, Ghoston did wonders the last time he went up against McKelvin on special teams. :drunk:

I would say its more Brad Smith than Gholston, but it hurts a little bit not having Gholston

Brad Smith being gone is the #1 factor

It's the coaching. Westhoff doesn't have it anymore.

The Special Teams really do need to step it up... even though BUF has a real good ST we shouldn't have let them get all those return yards. Brad Smith missing is huge, so many times he is involved in a quality special teams play with Wright.

Brad smith was the first thing i thought about yesterday when mcelvin returned that punt. only good cover guy is wright. Sucks but folks on the board been saying for a while, reason clowney doesn't get off PS is that jets would have to sit brad smith to get him in and yesterday i think that was the result, ST's took a big step backward.

change of topic but part of me thought maybe you sit stuckey to get clowney in, i think the upside for clowney is greater than stuckey, but stuckey's done everything right this year, hard to sit him

How many huge returns has LW had this year? You can't be serious.

I was referring to the other side of ST... you're right that part has been effective all year.

Going into the game on sunday, we were in the TOP 3 (I think we were actually FIRST in the league for most of the year in Kickoff coverage) in BOTH kickoff and punt coverage. We had one bad game.

Even I am getting my reality blurred with all the negativity on this board... I did jump to a conclusion there a little bit after watching their struggles against a very good BUF special teams. thank you for the info!

i agree with what you said about Stuckey/Clowney. But it's a good thing that we have 2 good, young receivers with a lot of upside that we didn't have to spend a lot of money on or a high draft pick on.

It definitely hurt to not have Brad Smith out their.

What about Wallace Wright though? He's been doing fairly well for the Special Teams unit this year...

Yeah, same thing happens to me on this message board. It's almost impossible to not get caught up in the irrational neagitivity and misery on this board.

    Bad calls by referees.

The hold on Leon's TD return.

Do you have a link for that?

I looked at the NFL.com stats, and it looked like about 10th in KORs, but nothing on KOR covered. But the way they have it set up is confusing.

I'm very serious. Thats Leon by himself. It's not like Westhoff calls for that.

Like the rest of the coaching staff, Westhoff is getting lucky when good shit happens.
