I'm hoping like hell that their is no wild card scenario for the AFC East and the Jets Miami game decides the division and Pats fans have to sit at home and root for an over time tie.
All we need to do is win out and there is nothing you or Miami can do about it. I will say that it would be foolish to say our next 2 games will be easy.
Why Indy? The Jets defense wouldn't have a shot at stopping that offense. We can't stop any high powered offense, or even decent ones for that matter. Baltimore gives us a much better shot at controlling the game and letting our offense do their thing.
Your right, you guys do control your own dest. Ravens play at dallas- last home game at the big Tex. IF the Ravens lose that game, it will get real interesting, to say the least.. And for the record, i would love to play you guys a third time..even if it is in the swamp..
So are you conceding VG is sort of a bust at this time? No one more time based on our Ds performance we will be most embarassed in the POs on national TV no less. The fans were not booin our D yesterday for no reason. You already saw Cutler slice & dice us & Payton well he is Peyton. If that is what U want to C god bless U & enjoy the blood bath when it occurs
I had this in another thread. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but: http://forums.theganggreen.com/showthread.php?t=39633 BOTTOM LINE: As far as I can see, there is NO way we can get in if we lose to Miami and NE wins against Buffalo (even if Baltimore loses their last two games) - that even includes Miami and NE losing to KC and Arizona. But if you notice, we can lose against Seattle and still get in multiple ways but will need help from NE or Baltimore then. Also, there is actually a way that we can get into the playoffs without beating Miami (NE and Baltimore losing out). BUT HERE ARE OUR PATHS TO PLAYOFFS: 1) If we win out, we're in and win the division. 2) If we lose to Seattle and win against Miami (10-6) and NE loses against Buffalo (10-6), we win the division because of best division record. 3) If we lose to Seattle and win against Miami (10-6) and NE loses against Arizona and Buffalo (9-7), we win the division. 4) If we lose to Seattle and win against Miami (10-6) and NE wins out (11-5), division is lost BUT we can get in via the Wild Card if Baltimore (9-7) loses their last two games - We would beat Miami via division tiebreaker. 5) If we win in Seattle, lose to Miami (10-6) and Baltimore loses out (9-7). Miami wins division. BUT if NE loses Buffalo and win against Arizona (finish 10-6), we get the Wild Card - we would have a better division record (4-2 v. 3-3). Five possible ways to get in but easiest path is: WIN OUT, lol But LETS GO ARIZONA (against Pats) and LETS GO DALLAS (against Baltimore) in week 16. And the Bills game is a MUST win for the Pats or they are pretty much done - I'm stunned that we can get in even if we lose to Miami. NE losing in Buffalo is not unthinkable and Baltimore losing to Dallas and Jax is not impossible.
Time based my a**, you can´t call a player a bust at this time, nomatter what. I guess Palmer is also a bust, because he didn´t play at all his first season. Oh, and I´d rather loose, than not try at all. And I don´t need a blessing for that mindset, that helps a lot in life.
agreed, ill take baltimore over indy any day. But, baltimore has a tough last two games, it could be new england instead of baltimore, am I correct? (assuming ne wins out and baltimore loses one more game)
The Jets would be at home. Plus, the Jets are the 3 seed right now and would not play Indy or Denver in the 1st round. That quote is just priceless.
That's it, simple as that. Win two games and we're the #3 seed, opening the playoffs at home. Nothing else matters.
I think the analysis above is incomplete. Here is my restructuring: 1. Jets W/W a) = Division 2. Jets L/W a) Pats W/W and BAL L/L = Wildcard b) Pats L/W = Division c) Pats W/L = Division d) Pats L/L = Division 3. Jets W/L a) Pats W/L and BAL L/L = Wildcard b) Pats L/L and BAL L/L = Wildcard (we are eliminated at a Jets L/L in all cases, even if IND, BAL and NE go L/L because BAL and IND have better common opponent reccords and Miami or NE would win the division)
I'd also root for Buffalo over Denver because a Jets W and a Broncos loss means Denver cannot go higher than the 4 seed or get eliminated by SD. Even if NE and MIA lose this week, DEN cant get past them if one of those 2 teams win the AFC East.
Except if we end up wildcard, I would rather face Den again instead of NE or MIA. We can take Den and let NE have to play the Colts. If we win the division with only one win, and we are facing either the Colts or the Ravens. I think we prefer the Colts (meaning DEN wins out). So a Denver loss could hurt us.
how did a thread get started about nothing going our way when the most important game for the Jets, the Denver game, did? the Jets aren't getting a first round bye, and have to play to win the division. with the division won and a first round game innevitable, the only other important element is where we will play the next round, Pitt or Tenn? if we end up tied with Denver, that drops us down a slot with a 2nd round matchup against the number 1 seed. with Denver losing, if the Jets win out (which is the only thing of any importance) we get the third seed and they'll get the fourth. that is the only seed of importance at this point.
True. Plus, if by some chance the Jets and Denver advance, we'll have the game here instead of out there.
i'll take any seed against any opponent, because that means that we made the playoffs. The last few seasons has shown that anyone can win the Super Bowl, no matter the seed or what teams they have to face first. in order to win the Super Bowl, we are going to have to beat the best at some point, who cares if that is in the 1st, 2nd or 3rd round?
As funny as it sounds with my posting so many playoff scenario threads the last few weeks. I've just been looking at getting the best seed possible and not worried too much about playoff match ups. I think you're looking at whether we get the third or fourth seed, right? Part of the fun yet is that we have no idea who will have the 1st or 2nd seed. The game this week between Ten and Pit is for the 1st seed. If Pit wins and then beats Cle they are 13-3 with Ten at best 13-3 as well. Pit would win the tie-breaker of head-to-head record and be the #1 seed. I am certainly not putting my money on Ten to win this next week.
