The only games that had any bearing on us were the Bal game, the Den game and NE game. Bal lost which is good for WC purposes, Den lost which pushes us up to the 3 seed and NE won which was bad b/c if NE had lost then next week's game would have been meaningless for the div title. 2 of 3 went our way.
Why is that? We still have to play Miami in week 17 and if we lost next week and Miami wins out, Miami wins it.
Miami would have needed to lose yesterday and next week for them to get eliminated from the div picture.
Ok. So you were only talking about NE then when you said it wouldn't matter what happened next week at Seattle.
Miami had already won yesterday so they became irrelvant until Week 17. If NE had lost we could have lost next week regardless what NE/Miami would have done next week and we still would win the div w/ a win in week 17. As it is now if NE loses next week we can still lose and win the div w/ a W in week 17 regardless of what Miami does.
So that is what I first alluded to. What would be the tiebreaker if both NY and Miami ended up 10-6? They would both have the same division, conference and head-to-head stats at that point. I think next week is crucial. Neither Miami or NE will lose those patsy games.
Depends on how they get to 10-6. If Miami wins the W17 game and goes to 10-6 , Miami wins common opponents TB. You lost to SD, OAK, DEN. We would have lost to only ARI and KC
So, barring another miracle, yesterday had to be the beginning of a 6 game winning streak to make it to the super bowl. 7 to win it. Why does that sound so overwhelming to me? Oh, that and the fact Baltimore will probably end up as the #6 seed...lol.
Here'a a secret. We don't want to be the #3 seed. Not if Baltimore is the #6. I would much rather take my chances with Indy.
NE is irrelevant guys - we have the tie breakers over them. All we need to do is win. There is no more hoping for other teams to falter: The jets control their own desitny. Just win, and your in.
If the Jets lose to Seattle, beat Miami and NE wins their next two, NE wins the division, right? How is NE irrelevant? Jets have to take care of business in Seattle and not worry about anything else.
Where iis ur godlike VG link? No just saying we will be totally embarassed by them since our D is such a high quality. Just maybe if VG would have been productive we would not be in the position we are with or D. Did you hear our faithful fans booing our wonderful D? Must have been a reason for that right?
I replaced it with something more important. So that means when the other guys boo, you start to root against the Team making the playoffs?
I know the goal is to win the SB. Fact is outside of Pittsburgh we are capable of beating or lossing to every team in the AFC. If we get on a roll or get a little luck we have a shot to go down next week or maybe to get a couple of rounds in the playoffs. If Ben gets beat up maybe make a full run to the big game. The Giants aren't as good as last year with the loss of their Two best DE, Burress and their big back hurt. Dallas, is hugely talented but may find a way to self destruct. The Vikings might be the best all around team but have issues at QB. While we have shown a lot of weaknesses, so has the competition. I loved yesterdays game it was up and down and we got the breaks from the refs and the opposition made a dumb call. We still had to make the play and did. I'm not known as mister sunshine and this season may well end in heartbreak with a Chad Pennington drive to eliminate us. That's the game today. Hang in there until your out.
Funny how we all have our calculaters out, and were rooting for each other to lose...perfect.. We will have our hands full this weekend with AZ..and i really hope you guys take Seattle lightly.. My guess is your last game will be a very important one. I hope its on TV. Either way, tighten your beltbuckle, its going down to the wire..
Wow, it is tough for me to feel upbeat. Our D is not even close to that of Pitts or the Ravens. We all know that you have to have a pretty good D to go far in the playoffs - usually. I know anything can happen, but I am worried. Our D has really good down-hill the last few weeks and we weren't that good to begin with (we were OK - not good). I am OK with the O side of things; in most cases we score enough points to win football games. It could still get better, but I can live with it. I would like to see Leon get at least 8 to 10 carries a game, though; he has earned it. I also would like to see a lot more of Clowney. He only made one play, but seems to be right where he was in pre-season (good hands and speed and wants to play).
