Oh, you did miss a bit of the interview. I just turned it on now. One interesting thing he did say was that you need to explain to a guy who has never been in coverage before how his assignment fits in with the rest of the defense. I don't know that Mangini is NOT doing that, but I just found that interesting.
He also said VG is going to be a great player, and what he is experiencing this year as a rookie is natural and expected. He said he's going to be able to help him and fix all his shortcomings, he also brought up Demarcus Ware saying how he sucked his rookie year too, and this season he has 14 sacks already. Listening to LT's perspective on Gholston is very encouraging to say the least.
Ware had 8 sacks his rookie season, Which is more than Pace, our best OLB has ever had in any one season his whole career
And when he asked LT to work with him, LT said "work with what?" Sounds like he is more optimistic about VG then he was about Ware, and he's confident he will be able to help him reach his potential.
What the hell could LT possibly say about Gholdsten thats negative. He's trying to tutor the kid but i take all of this with a gram of co...grain of salt.
I don't dispute that at all. Reasons: 1) messes up your brain, so he may not be firing on all cylinders 2) obviously has a stake in it 3) after spending all his money on el polvo, he may need to drum up the business
It's Mangini. He has no clue how to make a converted DE into an OLB. His only coaching tip is "He needs to improve" or "It's just not good enough". Parcells, Bellichick know how to make effective LBs. Thats why Mayo is playing great and Gholston is meandering. I bet Rex Ryan, Bill Cowher or someone else can coach that kid into becoming a dominant force. Sutton and Mangini? Yeah ok...
It seems to me like being optimistic about LT's mental state/health would bode better for the Jets, considering he's working with Gholston. Having heard the guy talk at numerous times in his career, I can say that while his brain isn't in the best of shape; he's in good shape for the shape he's in.
Just because those are the only comments he'll give to the press, I have a feeling he may just say a bit more to VG on the practice field. Mayo is an ILB, much easier transition to the pro game than moving from 4-3 DE to 3-4 OLB. If Mangini and LT can't do it, I don't think anyone will be able to. Mangini's problem is game-plan adjustments. I've never heard of his having a lack of developmental coaching ability. I mean, he is the guy that coached Troy Brown, a WR, to being a decent D-back for a year.
I'm optimistic and definitely derived a sliver of hope from his comments, but I'm not going to write home about it...especially following Beamen's excellent commentary. We need more football Beamen.
Your retarded cocaine would make you play better because your more amped up. Its not gonna falter your playing
I love irony. And genius, cocaine is not a performance enhancing drug. I'm about as average an athlete as you can be. If I did 3 lines I wouldn't suddenly be able to rush the passer like a Hall of Fame talent.
Playing high on cocaine probably made LT a little better than playing not high. Not a huge difference, but a little one. Just my opinion
