If you look at the last two games it looks like our opponents looked at film of our O and D and adjusted. Imagine coaching staffs adjusting to attack the weaknesses of the opposition before and during the game. I think the league should look into it.
My feeling is the offense made the defense look good. We use to be scoring lots of points, and had a bunch of long drives. Besides instilling confidence, it also kept the defense off the field. As for the play calling: It's really a broken record at this point. We criticized it hard earlier this year, and it's worse now. I'm sorry, but Leon had 3 touches. Thomas Jones had 8. It was a one score game until late. Inexcusable. Ever heard of mixing up the pass and run?
This is so ridiculous..... 1st down I wanted a run - I would have been pissed to see empty backfield Oakland-Game like plays... 2nd down - fine.. That 3rd down pass was perfect... The TE didn't execute -No matter what they called there, if a player drops the ball it doesn't work - What was the play call supposed to be? A Run? Again, if players don't execute, it fails.... And I agreed with kicking the ball... Up until that point you have to assume you're playing a lousy 49rd team and pinning them deep relying on your defense.... And not to make excuses but, the 49rs DID execute... Hill and his wr's played a great game regardless of the opponent.... Some credit needs to be given.
No, read the damn post again. The Jets ran the ball on three out of four first downs and passed it on three out of four second downs. The patterns didn't freaking matter at all, they were still going against the percentages by stacking the run heavily on first down (as they did against the Broncos) and stacking the pass on second down (ditto). This is not rocket science. You can make it look different by being random, but when you are running on almost every first down and passing on almost every second down you can get shut down by defenses as bad as the Broncos and 49ers. You could look it up.
There's something really wrong in the Jets play calling right now. It's almost like intentional sabotage. I should go back and look at the first and second down patterns earlier in the year but I don't really have the energy to spend on a lousy team at the moment.
Mike Singletary is a hell of a coach, and it's clearly showing with the niners. They've been taking it hard to every opponent since he took over the reigns.
Probably nothing but 2 bad weeks that get overblown and overanalyzed by fans because football only gets played once a week. Iunno why a loss can't be a loss and a win can't be a win in the sports world...every mistakes a knock of character/intelligence/heart/some other thing people can knock...when you win you're either scrutinized too much (ZOMG LUCK!!?!) or anointed the future of the sport itself. It's like fuckin....chill.
