if the cards do not re-sign him..id love the jets to sign him and out put next to harris...what do you guys think
How is he in pass coverage? We need to find LBs who can cover people first and foremost. That is a real weakness on the team.
here is his stats...he has pretty amount of INTS.. http://www.nfl.com/players/karlosdansby/careerstats?id=DAN762622
Since the Jets defense aren't rushing the passer OR defending the pass.. what are they doing? Just kinda hanging out? Kinda feels like they are just running around like kids in recess.
Dansby is one of the best ILBs, imo. He sheds blockers well, makes good quick reads, is good in Coverage and great in puruite. Putting him next to Harris would be a dream scenario. That beeing said, I don?t see the Cards letting him go, especially after they lost Pace in FA last year. And even if they let him go, he?ll be one of the, if not the, top FAs on the Market this year, and teams like the Dolphins, Browns and some 43 teams will dig deep in their Pockets to get him. So if go for him, we better bring the big wallet.
He was Franchised last year, so yeah, he will become a FA. But with Gholston, Pace and Thomas, we already got a lot of money tied up to that OLB position, and won?t have a lot of ammo this year, after last year?s big spending.
No. We need to stop spending money on free agents and start investing in draft picks. We already have our veteran base on this team (Rhodes, Harris, Revis) that has been bolstered by Faneca, Jenkins and Pace. This is a very good linebacker class, with plenty of options. We don't even need to draft one in the first round, as we could wait until the 2nd or 3rd round and still pick up a quality player.
Oh, sorry. You?re right. I was thinking about Suggs for some reason. Scott would be another interesting player, who would probably come a lot cheaper than Dansby.
100% agreed. We need to start finding & growing our own stars. Not to mention the tremendous $$ savings involved. Signing a free agent breaks our cap space, but finding a starter in the 3rd round of the draft will only cost us at most about $3 million over 4 years.
I don't necessarily agree with this. While I think you build your team through the draft, you still have to be active in FA. If you land, say, 2-3 starters/immediate contributors in FA; and then land, say, 2-3 starters/immediate contributors in the draft, that means you've added between 4-6 immediate players who can help your team win next year. That's much better than the chances you have of straight-up drafting 4-6 impact players. Tannenbaum is all about having flexibility in the draft, done so by signing needs in FA. I think he'll continue to do this upcoming Offseason as well.
I'd love to have him. He is fast, good in coverage and a great all-around athlete. But I doubt we make many if any moves in FA next year after last year's shopping. How could we possibly have cap space?
Yes, the cap will increase next offseason season, and at the going rate, there will be no cap the following year.
Well if it's possible we should throw a huge sack of money at the guy... He can cover TE's no problem. He can catch RB's underneath too... He is what this team desperately needs. Harris and Dansby in the middle? And Gholston panning out... Sky would be the limit. Yes I'm just day-dreaming....
Dansby would lose effectiveness is used inside. He is an outside linebacker and best on the weakside.
