Can someone in the Nyc area put out a missing persons report on our starting wr's. Against two bad defenses they have combined for 8 catches and 57 yards in two freaking games. I really thought with the addition of Favre they would both have huge years. They are basically putting up the same numbers, actually worse numbers, then they did with Pennington. Maybe Coles is getting old and the injuries are catching up, or hes too busy bitching and moaning. But I really am dissapointed with Cotchery. He had 1100 yards in 15 games last year with Pennigton and Clemens at qb. He's not even gonna come close to that this year.

If they were doing well before and not doing well now, its on the coaching - we've seen them at their best, and we know they can still get it done. They aren't in the position to get it done, because of the Vaginas with the playcalling sheets.

Lol i agree 100%, the jets always try screen passes and 5 yard passes, ifs its over 10 yards like 2nd and 13 or 3rd and 10 the jets r punting they never try to get it rarely, but however coles and cotchery have to perform when they do get involved, all of favres long passes have been off this year mainly to the other team.

If chad can float passes all over the field and make connections , then what F@#$ is going on? Coles still has speed and cotch has already shown he has burners. Is it short routes being called , is it bad chemistry? Maybe its time to spread the ball around. Oh that's right we're going to call a 5 yard dump pass......Ya know ...Real safe!........Balls

Actually, despite what you say: Coles is on pace for the second best season in his career. Cotchery is naturally having what looks like a down year.

I don't know, but hte comments made by coles prior to the last game really irk me. So, before #4 came, the entire offense was centered on him, and now that Favre is here, it's centered on #4 instead?

    Seriously, get a clue.

I'm not sure how you could come to that conclusion when with the very same coaches in place they have both had much better seasons than they are having this year. The only variable that has changed is the QB.

I'm am not at all clear that either one of them can can it done anymore. Coles has clearly lost a step or ten and Cotch has been exposed as nothing more then a #2 with a quality #1 in place. For whatever reason the passing game is not working, I don't blame the CS for that, I blame the CS for not realizing this and not running the ball more to compensate for the lackluster passing game. Its not the CS fault though that the QB is playing like shit and the WRs are too.

I love how its the coaches fault that these two couldnt get open during the game. I watched Cotchery give up on a deep route because their was two defenders near him and if he would've kept running it would've been a catch..even the announcers said that. their not in the position to get it done because they're not getting open.

You make some good points, and I would add that Coles had a concussion and has not shown much since. I don't see him drawing the double team most of the time. This allows opponent D's to cover Cotch more, and he's not a real #1 wr. There's no deep threat, they both give up on patterns, and Coles doesn't fight for the ball.

    That about covers it.

My one question about the deep passing game is why is it always a fly route we see run? I don't ever see a double move, a post route. Or any other kind of route designed to go 15-20 yards down field and then cut back to the middle. I know these routes exist, but I dont see us run them why not? Does Favre's magic arm only work on fly's down the line? or on short slants? 15-20 yards over the middle and he throws a bigger duck than CP ever did? thats our big problem i think. We dont have an long intermediate game. We go for it all to keep the d honest. Or we work the short game. Short game works at times, but when it doesnt work whats wrong with trying a deep in? or a 12 yard flag? whats wrong with a double move? what about the curl and go? I bet that would leave keller wide open on an island....

Our OL is above average in pass protection. It's about time we let favre take the 5 and 7 step drops. and throw an 20 yard route for once.

I have lost faith in our WR's ability to get open. It seems like we didn't even have them play in the Raiders game or the San Fran game. I don't know the reason but they are not getting open or making plays. LC is not a number 1 wr in my mind anymore especially going forward. I hope they change my mind by the end of the year.

It seems based on the comments of the HC of our last two opponents they weren't at all worried about our WR.

Without the short drag routes neither one of them get seperation.

It may be time for Stucky to take over for Coles and get Clowney some shots in the slot for now over Smith.

I do not see the films the team watches, but.....Are these guys running good routs? Are they getting open? Are they taking plays off?

I would assume that if they were open, they would get the ball.

On a side note.... I am not making any excuses for the coaches, BUT is every problem that the JETS have coaching related? After every bad play, game etc. It's Fire this guy, get rid of that guy blah blah blah. At 8-3, the PLAYERS should be jumping around like MAD BEASTS going for the kill. Instead, they sleptwalked thru two games.

Mike Westhoff called and ran the most assanine reverse in Kickoff Return History that was a comedy of errors. I still have not seen a thread calling for his firing, although there have been numerous posts stating he should be the next coach.

Probably because the guy is one of, if not the, best ST coaches in the league. It was just a terrible pitch by Smith.

I thought it was all improv. When watching the reply, the pitch all be it behind LW was still potentially catchable. he never even reached a hand out. which said to me he didnt expect the pitch.

Yep, I remember Phil Simms also saying that the coaching staff of the 49ers said they weren't concerned about our WRs.

here's what Rich Cimini of the dailynews said about the receivers:

    Wide Receivers: F
Laveranues Coles: 1 reception for 5 yards. Jerricho Cotchery: 1 for 10 yards. That, quite frankly, is mind-boggling. The 49ers have a suspect pass defense (ranked 28th), and they played without their best corner, Nate Clements. The Jets should’ve had a field day against them, but Coles and Cotchery struggled to get open. Niners LT Joe Staley, who recovered a fumble in the end zone for a TD, got his hands on as many balls as Coles and Cotchery, for crying out loud. Coles said the 49ers took the copycat route, employing the same coverage as the Broncos did the previous week - press coverage with a corner, and a safety over the top. If that’s true, the other receivers should’ve been open. Didn’t happen. Chansi Stuckey caught four balls, with a nice run after the catch on a 24-yard play, but he made a big mistake early on. On a third-and-9 in the first quarter, he cut off his route at 8 yards and the Jets ended up a yard short, having to punt.
