Ok, ill start off by saying that Brett Favre is wayy better than chad will ever be and Chad would not have this team at 8-5, even if he did i still trust Favre alot more when the game is on the line. People are saying, this dink and dunk shit isnt working, we need to throw deep more WE HAVE EFFIN BRETT FAVRE fuck that, did you see the titans game, we did not throw any deep passes, we controled the ball the whole game, our d was fresh and made timely stops. Yesterday, we threw SEVERAL Deep passes, guess what, none were caught. The ball control offesne you need to stay on schedule and stay the course pounding the rock and quick pass patterns, with the occasional deep pass. It's no secret that whoever controls the ball more usually wins. Obv this has to do with defense not making timely stops, but some blame had to fall on the offense going 3 and out. Kris Jenkins wrighs about 375, do you know how hard it is to make athletic plays for 3 hours at that weight. The less downs he has to play, the more effective he is. If we stayed the course things might have turned out differently. We're still in the postseason, with a first round home game at that lets stay positive
I don't think Favre knows how to throw a deep ball anymore... he's basically wasting downs going deep at this point... His deep pass attempts are drive killers.
Yeah our Offense works very well when the set the tone and score on their first possession. When our Offense gets confvdence, they are unstoppable. But when they get nothing going early, they suck for the whole game.
I actually do think we would be at least 8-5 under Pennington and probably 9-4 or even 10-3. Favre has not been the panacea everyone was looking for. I think it will be another year to see if this is really going to pan out with a Super Bowl appearance, but he may not want to come back, in which case we throw away a third round pick.
Yeah, the short passing game worked really well against TEN who thrives on causing pressure, basically leaving the middle of the field wide open. That doesn't work for every team. Especially one who is 26th in Pass Defense.
I don't hate the dink and dunk style. When it's clicking, like it was against Tenn, it looks great. It's not so much the fact that we need the Jets to complete a whole bunch of long bomb passes every game, but we are sorely missing even the threat that we could do that. At this point, it's hard to imagine that opposing coaches even need to bother planning for the deep threat when they play us - it's basically non-existant. That has to make it alot easier for them to cue in on all of the "dink and dunk" stuff that they can certainly expect, and this makes us look really bad and really easy to defend. I hope the CS decides to do something quick to make this Jets team a little less predictable or we're gonna be toast.
Everyone talks dink and dunk vs. deep ball. The coaching staff should devise and call plays where when we want to get away from the quick release short pass attack our recievers are running routes where Favre throws passes 12-18 yards down field. I hate how we go from ...uh oh short passes aren't getting it done to Favre heaving the ball 50+ yards with his eyes seemingly closed. I seldom see intermediate routes thrown at barring the occasional Keller or Baker completion for 15 yards.
This is probably stating the obvious but this Offense has played its best football when playing with a lead. Seems like when the D is holding up their end of the bargain it allows Favre and the Offense to not force things and run a balanced attack with lots of handoffs to TJ and short passes. When playing from behind - like they have throughout each game in all 5 of their losses - the Offense has looked out of sync. Maybe Schotenheimer panics too quickly and abandons the run.
The dink and dunk game sucks. The NYJETS dont have the WRs for Favre to open it up. I think its why he was hesitant to come here. Id still like to see Clowney get some plays. Messed up situation to say the least.
