Another reason not to totally freak out is that we aren't completely healthy yet. David Harris is one of the keys of our defense, and I think we can assume once he comes back the defense will improve at least a little bit. Another reason why the future is bright for the Jets.
Harris isn't the answer, he really didn't do that much when he was healthy. In his first two games as a starter last year DH averaged 20 tackles a game because teams had gotten used to running up the middle when Vilma was there instead. So teams ran right at DH and he got 40 tackles in his first two games. After that his tackle numbers were average for an ILB. If DH was really that good it would have shown in the games he was in.
Don't dismiss Harris. He's a good linebacker, and we do miss him. And while you are right, I don't really want to blame injuries when he's really the only one we have when a team like Denver has like 10 guys on IR, and 35 other guys faking injuries during the game.
I'd kill a homeless person if it meant Harris would be healthy and on the field. Hell, I'd even kill a real person.
Well you know if you were not off starting a number of completely retarded threads, I could probably ignore this idiocy as a brain fart, sadly I can not.
Sorry for the replies one after the other but I am not going to put a serious reply to one where I answer a complete turd sniffing retard. Anyway, DH is not going to be the be all end all. However, he will allow this defense to get back to some semblance of normalcy. He will free up Pace which will in turn free up Thomas and so on down the line. With Harris out, Pace has to do a lot of covering with Bowens and he can not be the Suggs/Merriman type of player it looked like he had the potential to be early in the season. Harris while not being a superb cover guy happens to be the best of the lot by quite a bit. We all know how stout he is at the point of attack (well most of us ), the plays he makes behind the LOS and the extra/incremental sacks he brings. I know he is not going to make this D, a monster, all by his lonesome but he does allow the Jets to put some of their round pieces into round holes and his addition solidifies 2-3 other positions at the very least. This is all providing he can come in healthy which he was not during the beginning of the season.
DH hasn't been getting the numbers this year because he swapped positions with Barton. Barton is getting all of the tackles since Harris, when he was in the game, was the one taking on blockers and freeing up the guys next to him. Why don't you try to understand how the defense works before you post asinine comments.
I don't think anything else can be added, so I'm just going to quote Miamipuck's post and call it a night
