The problem with OP's like this one is it leads to a discussion where the choice presented is binary. Either Mangini is a good coach or a bad one. I don't think that is the entire range of choices. Where I do htink Coles's quote gives reason for pause is the suggestion that a move by the opponent not anticipated in the game plan and practice would seem to require a game day adjustment that the available evidence suggests was not made. In short, it suggests a lack of ability to adjust to the game while it is being played. Now, in and of itself a coach who has that inability is not necessarily a terrible coach. But he probably isn't a very good one, either. That about covers it.
I personally think Eric has done a fine job down there...Time will prove that he is the best coach you guys have had in a while...and some here are calling for his head??? WOW..
Fortunately for me I already enjoyed a Jets SB. What you believe like everything else you bring to the board like everyone else here is a biased point of view. My bias just happens to be right more than yours and your skin just happens to be a little thiner than most.
Abandoning the run game against a sieve like Denver just because a few runs got stuffed is bad coaching. The Jets do that a lot. They become discouraged by just a few instances of failure. Real running teams continue to pound the ball and it usually pays off.
Except the Broncos pass defense is ranked 27th in the league. We should have torched it like they torched us.
You have been saying fior YEARS how good the Giants are, it doesn't count when you say it over and over and then finally years later it happens. I guarantee you I am right a heck of alot more than you.
In that weather we should have kept it on the ground. Jones had 100 yards in the first quarter. The longer we kept it out of their hands our sieve of a pass defense would have been off the field.
We were down by 2 scores the whole second half. Sometimes by as much as 17 points. We should have been able to pass the ball at some point. We wern't going to win the game if we didn't. When it was time to move the ball through the air in the 4th we faded.
I've been saying it since 06 when they rebuilt their OL and drafted outright studs on their DLine. I have also been saying since the end of 04 that we screwed the pooch by letting Ferguson and K-Mack go and not even making an offer for Becht. This is what you had to say about our OL after the 05 season during the offseason leading up to 06.
Sometimes I'm wrong. We had done a great job replacing players on the OL. Who knew our guys would get so old so fast? remember Mawae was a problem in '05 and he's great again. I was wrong on Jones, I really liked him at the time. We have more than replaced Kareem and ferguson now though and Kareem was not a big loss b/c it would have made no sense for us to overpay him at that time when we had a good track record of replacing OL- Ryan Young, Randy Thomas, etc... You severely overrate Jason Fergsuon. Dallas certainly hasn't struggled w/o him the last 2 years. Since '06 you have been crowing about the Giants? You were impressed w. this draft? 2006 1 1 32 32 Mathias Kiwanuka DE Boston College 2 2 12 44 Sinorice Moss WR Miami (FL) 3 3 32 96 Gerris Wilkinson LB Georgia Tech 4 4 27 124 Barry Cofield DT Northwestern 5 4 32 129 Guy Whimper T East Carolina 6 5 26 158 Charlie Peprah DB Alabama 7 7 24 232 Gerrick McPhearson DB Maryland Luke Petitgout and Bob Whitfield had you pumped up for the future? Carlos Emmons, Lavar Arrington, Brandon short, will demps and company had you envision the SB in 2007? You are such a phony.
Finally we agree on something! This must have been very tough for you to put in writing. Public admission is a great first step to rehabilitation. I'm proud of you Junc.
No but you put Coles in motion so to get Bly off of him or to at least create some separation once the ball is hiked. This is what they do for T.O., B Marshall and all the other top WR who consistently draw the best CB and double coverage. Mangini and the offense didnt make any adjustment.
