Accusing me of hindsight said the man who doesn't make predictions. It must be tough sitting on your eyeballs all day, it kind of explains your overt anger.
Baltimore is absolutely a paper tiger. I am not worried about them at all. They are 2-4 against winning teams and 6-0 against losing teams. Losing a player in preseason is different than during the season. Pitt was really banged up, the Giants were healthy w/ the players they have been using all season. That was still a good win but it's not like your sched has been incredibly difficult. Philly was in an awful stretch when you played them. They lost to you, got blown out by Baltimore and tied Cincy. I think IF Westbrook is healthy they can be really good but they haven't been really good at all this year. Washington played well early starting 6-2 but they have been awful the last 7 weeks. The Arizona win was a good one, they are alot tougher at home. Dallas had Brad Johnson and Brooks Bollinger at QB. The schedule looks touhg on paper but it's not really that tough. W/ that said it's impressive being 11-1 w/ that sched but i's not really that difficult.
I think your terms are a bit off. Would I say that Baltimore is "overrated?" I would, because they have beat up on weak teams. Having said that, being overrated doesn't make you bad' it just means you aren't as good as you appear. Being a paper-tiger means you look big and nasty but aren't, I don't think Baltimore falls into that category. And Philly's awful stretch began when the Giants played them. That lose sent them into their tailspin which they have since gotten out of. Philly is a physical team that is also a division rival game; division games are always tough in the NFC East. Dallas still had talent elsewhere and actually made the Giants offense look bad at times. Eli fought past this and threw 3 TDs. I know the QB situation, but it's still a division game against a team with a billion pro-bowlers, VERY talented receivers, and massive OL, a powerhouse RB, and an aggressive defense. An injury in the preseason gives you more time to adapt to, but Osi was the Giants best-rushing heading in to the season. You can't just say "he went down a while ago" and leave it at that. Roethlisberger is also a very talented QB who has shown the ability to do great things when the game is in his hands. Washington has what I like to call "bully syndrome." They look great when beating up on lesser teams or teams of equal talent. However, when they play a team with more talent they do not elevate their game. Washington has looked downright bad in the games where they played their toughest opponents (Giants 2x, Steelers, and Cowboys w/Romo). The consensus amongst many leading NFL minds (NFL Network, ESPN, SNY, YES, WFAN-all of which I listen to or talk about with friends and family) is that the Giants have one of the tougher schedules in the league. I don't know what else to tell you, if all this doesn't change your mind I don't know what will. How many other teams would go 11-1 in that schedule. The way you talk about sounds like the Chiefs would go 9-2 with the same schedule. It may appear harder on paper than it is, that's all a matter of the perception of the person viewing the schedule, but that doesn't mean it isn't a BITCH of a schedule nonetheless.
No matter what you want to call it Baltimore isn't a very good team. Philly went into a tailsapin b/c they lost some key guys most notably Westbrook. Dallas' talent is also very overrated, how many playoff games have they won w/ all that impressive talent? and again they had Brad Johnson and Brooks Bollinger at QB. Dallas was in a strech of losing 4 of 6 w/ 2 of those losses WITH Romo. Osi went down at a position where the Giants had depth. Big Ben was playing hurt, they don't have another QB to come in for him as good as Ben. Washington looked bad losing to an awful Rams team as well and squeaking by an awful Detroit team, awful Cleveland team and awful Seattle team too. I don't care what "experts" say, they look at generalities, they see black and white w/ the #s. The sched LOOKS tough, dig deeper and you'll see it's not really that tough. I didn't say others would go 11-1, I said I was impressed they were 11-1. I didn't say it was an easy sched but you guys are making it seem like this is the most difficult ched in the history of the NFL.
Philly has Westbrook for that game and he only said he was hurt AFTER the game (cough cough bullshit! cough)! Dallas has only had this talent for 2 seasons including this one. Last year they were the toast of the NFL before losing in a shocking upset to the future Super Bowl Champion New York Giants. Good teams have good depth. The Giants lost a Hall of Fame pass-rusher and their leading sacker. They are still getting great pressure this year thanks to depth. Again, Washington has a top 10 defense and a MVP calibre RB. Let's just make this more easy to understand for both our sakes. On a scale of 1-10, 10 being hardest schedule ever and 1 being easiest schedule ever, where would you rank this Giants team's schedule?
Westbrook had missed 2 games in 3 weeks prior to coming back 2 weeks earlier and the week before he ran it 20 times for 61 yds against Seattle so obviously the guy either was stll hurting or just not playing well for some reason. Dallas didn't have talent 2 years ago? It was just last year and now this year? Either way last year they lost at home in a game they were heavily favored in and this year are fighting to make the playoffs. That doesn't seem like great talent to me. Strahan is a borderline HOFer, he's not a lock. Washington's D is good but if you can't score you can't win. They are 28th in points scored. I would rate it a 6 or 7. It's not easy but it's not impossible either.
You're entitled to your opinions, but I pretty much disagree with a lot of what you've said. Oh well. Live and let live, I reckon.
We play in NY. We picked up Favre in the midst of training camp. We were Christened by the media to meet the Giants in the Super Bowl. I believe we have had plenty of media coverage and are just getting a small break this week because of the Giants. Otherwise, this team has seen plenty of media and will not be deterred by any special coverage. If anything, our core players will stick to the bread and butter answers and will not generate any more media than necessary. We just have to win games.
Thank you. I try not to be "that guy" on the message boards. I also don't want to come across as trolling.
Why do people feel the need to point out typos all the time? You wnat to have a spelling test where I am paying attention? I won't misspell a word.
Uh, the point was is that the Jets have Had A TON of media attention most of this season, especially the last 3 weeks. Now, the attention is shifting. No one said you couldn't go through a season without it, he just said it can make life easier. The jets just had a reality check,a nd now the spot light was moved across town. The jets wont be talked about again, I take it, until: 1. They clinch the division. 2. Pitt and Tenn start to lose, while Jets win 3. Last game of the season against Miami, the Chad Verse Favre thing will get some media, plus the jets may need the game to make the playoffs, or to get a first round bye.
