I'm almost positive I've said this to you before, but you either choose to ignore it or just refuse to accept it. Gholston was projected to go between 4 and 10 well before the combine because of his play in college. He's a football player who holds sack records at one of the most prestigious college football programs in the country. He is NOT a workout warrior. Cut the bullshit.
Im sure his football skills are impressing you alot in a possible playoff year when we need a pass rusher desperately. That is all he has to do. Come in on third down and rush the Qb. Nothing more nothing less for now and he has not even shown a spark.
That's not the point. Stop calling him a workout warrior, because he's not. I haven't been impressed at all, and frankly he looked horrible when chasing Cutler down Sunday. I'm starting to get concerned about this kid.
He will get 15 sacks. Seven will come in one game and three in another. That was his ticket to move up the draft boards.
Im concerned about anybody who disappears in games in college playing next to Lauranitus. The warning signs were there and because of the combines people did not want to see them. I hope im wrong because im sick of having top ten picks who turn out mediocre to bad.
The Ghost will join the legions of other workout warriors whose gym production just does not translate to the NFL field The gulf between Big 10 football and the NFL is massive. Sacking Chad Henne with Michigan is a lot easier than sacking the QB on even the worst NFL team. My beef with Gholston is that it doesn't look like he has that added gear that the good pass rushers have when closing in on the QB. He just doesn't seem that fast on the field. Watch Ware play this weekend or watch old tapes of Merriman- those guys have another motor when they see the QB in their targets. It looks like Gholston jogs after the QB.
I hope so. I just hate when people label him a workout warrior because he doesn't fit that label. I'll bet you I could chase down Cutler faster than I saw Gholston trying the other day.
This is EXACTLY what I've been saying about him (and the other LB's too). Obviously, Mangini won't say this publicly, but I have to think he notices this, and I wouldn't be surprised if Gholston is on a strict workout regiment this Offseason, and he comes into next season about 10 lbs lighter.
Well I am sure all of us want to see VG turn into the next LT. Saying that however when you analyze his performance to date it is almost like hitting the lotto extremely doubtful that it will ever occur sorry to say. As a aside my son from the time he was drafted is so pissed at Mangini for drafting him he wants him gone ASAP. He is so far dead on on his analysis of VG from the day he was drafted at least till now.
I wish we could go back to all the posts of all the happy fans who were quoting his 40 time, bench press reps and vertical leap. Not one thing having to do with Football. As usual BB got the real Lb in this draft six places below where we took VG.
You do know that it was rumored at least 20 GMs never considered him even a top 20 pick at draft time, right?
Nothing for nothing here Gholston isnt to blame for the lack of how hes performed so far this year. It could be the way hes being utilized and the schemes hes put into.I cant believe the guy was a force to be reckoned with in college and now many say hes a bust. Manginis got a thing with talented LBs............Vilma.........
