Running game A- Passing game C (screen passes saved this from being a D/F) tackling F pass defense (1st half F 2nd half C-) pass rush F Coaching F (WTF calling that Wildcat reverse in these conditions???????)
I'd give the running game a C - the stats are deceptive due to two big runs. They failed to control the line of scrimmage with the running game.
The running game gets an imcomlete - 16 carries for Jones when he was shredding them is a play callilng disgrace.
Running game: B (Thomas Jones did good but at times he went no where on first down) Passing game: D- (Couldn't convert on 3rd or 4th down and INT was costly) Tackling: D- (Poor tackling, especially with Elam) Pass defense: F (Our secondary has some serious issues, can't give up some many big plays) Pass rush: C- (Giving up over 100 yards is fine once in awhile but to a nobody is not) Coaching: F (When we lose they deserve no better grade than a F)
The sad thing about this game is that the Bronco fan base was scared shitless of us. ( I admit I trolled but did not offer a post). When I watched this game several things came to mind. 1) Why did we abandon the running game, or better yet not even attempt to establish it? We knew they were rated 27th against the run. 2) When it was obvious that Shanahan's game plan was to exploit our suspect secondary, why didn't we see more Jenkins and stacking of the box. 3) How is it that we didn't get to Cutler not ONCE in this game, other less talented teams have done so...(example-blown fumble call against San Diego). 4) Why on God's green earth, did we QUIT, with more than 6minutes left to play? 5) Why was Coles absent for pretty much the entire game? It's obvious that we were out coached and outplayed, but I really think we gave them a lot......I just don't understand!!!!?????
Like the Raiders game this was a win with even average coaching. I have no clue at all what Mangini and Schottenheimer thought they were doing on offense today but they called the wrong game plan and then made things worse with the offbeat plays. I'm going to ask the same question now that I did after the Raiders game: what the hell was wrong with the concept of just running the ball down their throats as the game plan when the opponent had spent all season establishing that they couldn't defend the run? Thomas Jones went wild in both games as a kind of afterthought after the game had settled into a much tighter affair than it should have been. Jones should have had 250 today.
To be honest the only thing we did good was running and that was really based off of one TJ break that scored that long TD other then that we had no heart today.
Today's game reassures my belief that Callahan should be promoted to OC. An ESPN article actually mentioned Schottenheimer as a candidate to replace Crennel. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3735059
Running game C(did nothing outside of 2 big runs, and 2 other T Jones runs in 2 plays) Passing game D (screen passes were effective, we did nothing else) tackling F pass defense (FFFF) pass rush F Coaching F
I agree with your ratings but I think that if Jerricho hadn't fumbled he would have had 20 yards at least....
