I think Haynesworth is the best 4-3 DT, Jenkins the best 3-4 NT. Its tough to compare them straight up.
While I agree with that assessment ... I do have to say that Haynesworth could handle 3-4 Nose without a doubt. While Jenks is a beast .... Haynesworth is an animal. I don't think there is a center in the league that can handle either one on one.
Haynesworth is younger than Jenkins. Jenkins was once considered the best DT in the game, once Warren Sapp started to fall off a bit. Either way, I'm glad we got Jenkins. I wonder how good of a defense this would be, if the defensive scheme was a bit more sophisticated. I never see them doing any zone-blitzing. Over loading from one side and other regular 3-4 blitz that teams like Steelers, Ravens, and others use.
The way Jenkins is playing right now, there is just noone who´s better than him. yeah, I had some thought about the perfect 34, I think Ngata-Jenkins-Haynsworth would be fun to watch.
day dreaming..... We have the LBs and DLs to play both a 3-4 and, at times, a 4-3. So lets 'purchase' haynesworth this off season and run BOTH D's. hell, might even work gholsten into the 4-3. having both D's means either jenkins or haynesworth will ALWAYS be on the field if only for a short time. day dream over...
Rogers is a beast when he tries. Cleveland is 28th in the league against the run. I'm guessing they will have a bit more difficult time with Jenkins who is the man in the middle on the 3rd ranked team against the rush.
Rodgers is a good player, but I would not put him anywhere near the lever of Jenkins or Haynesworth. The talent is there. The will to dominate on every play is not.
Haynesworth in the 4-3 is better then Jenkins in the 3-4. Don't get me wrong I love Jenkins, but Haynesworth is just a little bit better then him. Rogers has the size and talent but I think he lacks the work ethic.
I'm still surpried Jenkins only has 30-some tackles this season. That's very small compared to the other elite DT's. I wonder if it has anything to do with the opposing team not running against us that much. Anyone got a stat that shows how many run plays they do against us every game?
A 34 NT will never have a lot of Tackles, because they always got two OL on them wen the opposing team runs in their direction. If he holds his ground and keeps two men busy, he has done a good Job. Jenkins often does a excelent Job, by splitting the double team or simply pushing them back. Look at some of the best out there, Casey Hampton has 13 Tackles in 8 games and has a probowl season, his season best was 42. Wilfork has 45 and is on track for his best season, Jamal Williams has 36.
I don't know The Jets are 3rd in the league with 35 sacks. 12 different players with at least 1 sack. 15 different players with a half sack. Sounds like they are coming from all over the field. What the Jets do lack is a true dominant pass rusher. C'mon Vernon
Browns run defense = 28th in NFL, 146 rush yards given up per game Jets run defense = 3rd in NFL, 78 rush yards given up per game Nuff said Jenkins > Rogers
