Hey Jets fans... GREAT WIN, HUH? While I was enjoying the win just now, I found myself looking forward to the Denver game next week and specifically, Denver's standings as of this morning in this morning's Star-Ledger. Denver was atop their division at 6-4 this morning, but the numbers that jumped out at me is that their PF (248) is less than their PA (271). There is no other team that is on top of their division that has scored less points than they've allowed. In fact, if you look at the 2nd place teams even, you're hard pressed to find that inbalance in them also. Of course, Denver's numbers will be even more skewed after tonight's loss. Not saying we should at all be looking past Denver next Sunday, but their PF/PA numbers sure don't indicate a team on top of it's division. If we keep our noses to the grindstone, I'm predicting a pretty solid win this weekend.
It's going to be all about defending the pass...I like our chances every week at this point, but the Jets rallying cry has to be "Remember the Raiders!"
I agree. And while I liked Cutler in the draft, his stats today were dismal. He completed less than half of his attempts. The Jets have to think "Raiders" and play as well as they've been playing and we'll bet the crap out of them.
If Cutler thinks his passing stats were bad today, wait until our defense gets ahold of him and he sees what his stats look like a week from now. We're going to make this kid miserable.
The more Cutler has to air it out, the better the Jets chances will be. Let him throw the game away because he will. All we need is to stop the run and be effective on offense and special teams. In the last few games, the Jets have been making that look easy.
I just hope Mangini keeps them focused this week and reminds them how easy it is to look past a team like this. They're still dangerous at home. I like the way the Jets talk about scoring early though. We've been getting scores out of our first drives. If we can do that in Denver and set Cutler on his heels in catch-up mode, our DBs and LBs will have a field day picking him off.
Yeah, I have been really impressed with that, too. It definitely makes a big difference when we come out and set the tone. We should be able to dominate time of possession again next week against a bad Denver defense, too, just can't overlook them.
Do you freakin' believe we dominated Tennessee's time of possession by twice as much (40 minutes to their 20)? Unfreakin' real, man.
Wow! You're right. My bad. Where the hell did I get to thinking this was an away game? Even better then. We're going to kick their ass.
I think we'll do just that... stuff the run to the point where Cutler has to air it out. Then the fun begins.
I think them just airing it out in 4 and 5 wide sets would give them the best chance imo, that would get our best def player off the field and our pass d has been suspect at times due to a somewhat lack of passrush
Good news, everyone. Denver's run D is ranked 26th, giving up 144.5 yards per game. As long as Jets don't fall behind early on, TJ will have a good day again.
We might put up 80 on that Denver defense next week. I mean, if the Raiders can put up 31, then the sky is the limit.
Denver is going to go pass crazy on us. Unfortunately, that is our weakness. They do like to turn the ball over, so hopefully we can get a few of those to make up for the yardage they might get on us.
Cutler has been more talk than action this year. I can't believe last week some or most of you guys were saying he deserved a pro bowl spot more than Favre
