We have got some really impressive role players. These two especially, but there are definitely others... These guys are tall, lanky players who just make plays when they're on the field. Smith is a so-so WR, but he provides that option-play ability, is a very good runner, and does great on ST coverage and lead blocking for Leon on KRs. Also overlooked is how good his stalk blocking on O has become. Wright is one of the premier ST tacklers in the league. This is a guy who should have no place on an NFL team- in terms of traditional talent- but he goes balls-to-the-wall every time he steps foot on the field, and almost never misses. These two lanky, skinny WR types could teach our mammoth 1st round pick Gholston a thing or two about open-field tackling...
good post.....seeing Wallace Wright play on ST makes me forget why i'm disappointed to see Clowney deactivated every week.....
Not to mention Brad Smith threw down Cortland Finnegan today. Finnegan is a good player and all, but he comes off as a punk. It was Brad Smith last year on ST, and this year it's Wright. Both are getting it done when called upon. I'd like to see Smith actually throwing the ball whenever we happen to use the 'Wildcat Formation'.
It's important for a team to be balanced in every part of the game but it's also great when your team is dominant at one aspect of the game. And, right now, thanks to guys like Wright and Brad Smith, we are completely dominant on special teams.
neither of their contributions should be overlooked. They both play the game the way it should be played, id like to see Smith used more, hes done well when we use him.
