Today’s win was a big one…. but bear with me….this one will be a long one….

I have been a Jets fan 10 years…I wasn’t born in Great Neck neither was I born in this continent…but being a Jets fan has been excruciating…we haven’t been as bad as most of you believe but being around non-Jets fans its been horrific… most of it based on our history (prior to 1998)….

I became a Jets fan because my roommate in College was from Long island and after watching Parcells in some ESPN interview I was hooked…he has a personality ….I had seen Jerry Rice in a game against the Cowboys in my only NFL primer prior to moving stateside…but I had no idea the NFL would be so addictive…

Coincidentally we were up against the Bronco’s at halftime in a championship game…that was the only time I was genuinely sure the Jets would win and shut up the naysayers considering my company…but I was wrong and since then regardless of how many games Chad won or how weak our opponents were…no one thought we were remotely any good…despite the fact the we have literally alternated playoff appearances since then by year…today is Frankly the first time since the Colts game in 03 that I can say we have a legitimate shot…

I am a darksider and frankly a pessimist in general…and I have found out in time a perfect Jets fan ….but what we have failed to see is that Chad fed to our insecurities big time…I am one of his biggest fans but today I bet on the Pats beating the Fins (I should have put up more in retrospect)…bottom-line is that Chad is a paradox, pick him only if your team is better than the opposition in every facet of the game save the quarterback position… coz he is as good or better than every quarterback everything else held constant…in other words he cant lose you the game neither can he win you one….

Which brings me to the Pats….I have never seen a team win consistently with so much less in any sport (not only North American sports)…which lets me feed into Porters conspiracy theory (for those who watched today’s ESPN countdown)…I don’t believe him verbatim but there is something about Belicheck …he disproves the notion that this game has more to do with talent than defensive/offensive schemes…he aint straight…and we beat them at home none the less….last week…that win was monumental …since Cox’s hit on Bledsoe, last week was the only time I was confident we had the game bagged ….we almost lost it but we won it in the end…no way we win that game in the past and no way we win it with Chad…

The media has been on Favre’s nuts as far as I can remember….but I have never bought into it…he has been good but not as great as the media has made him out…he also loves the attention bigtime…but I never thought much about him when he was signed…he wasn’t the X factor…but I was wrong in the sense that he was that good i.e. in a way that Roethlisberger or most ( about 95%) of QB’s are not…he could win you the game if your team was equall in all other positions relative to the opposition…

The Titans are a team the Jets in the past would obviously lose against…a fundamentally sound team on both sides with an impeccable record…we went their and won…a few people picked us (Collingsworth & Cowher) are the ones that come to mind…but Cowher was the most emphatic with an in depth analysis to boot…the Titans had no chance…we just dominated them…it wasn’t even as close as the final score…we are not talking about the Rams here…we are a damn good team…

We might struggle against the Broncos…but the only team that I fear now is the Colts…they can score a lot and defend as well…the Titans were not who we thought they were…but there are very few teams in the playoffs that could surprise us…

THIS IS OUR BEST SHOT TO WIN A CHAMPIONSHIP!

Colts are a beatable football team, if we can completely shut down the Titans, we can stop the Colts.

I think we face Pittsburgh and Tennessee not the Colts in the playoffs.

If this season has shown us anything, it's that any team can be a potential contender the next year, regardless of what their record was the year before. I know that wasn't the main point of your thread, but I think the Jets have a good "core" group of players for the years to come.

It's now or not for a long time. I agree. Brett will likely retire after this season, and everything is clicking right now. As long as we keep up the pace, there is no reason we can't be playing in Feb.

True we have a good core of players...the way I look at it you either fall into the Patriots (winning it allX2) or the Eagles (4 straight championship games) category as a legitimate contender year in year out...or you fall in the one year winners (Pittsburg,Buc's,Giants?) category and still a good team thereafter....

We fall in the one year category with Favre ...we will be a good team in the years to come but I see this is the year we are best suited to win it all...the future has too many uncertain variables in my book...
